Zack Munsell is the proud uncle of seven nieces and nephews and a friend to every child he meets. His genuine passion for connecting parents and children is the driving force behind Friendly Banjos. Zack founded the company on the belief that the Friendly Banjo can be a meaningful tool for young families to bond, helping parents and children discover connection and self-expression through making music together. Zack believes deeply in the healing power of nature and music, and his personal philosophy is rooted in trusting one’s intuition and honoring a unique path. Based in East Chatham, New York, he lives this philosophy daily. Catamount’s fourth annual Cardboard Classic event is sure to be a blast! Let the creativity flow as you design a sled using only cardboard and tape. Will your sled be the fastest or will it sputter out on its run down the hill? Either way, there is lots of fun to be had at this free event and awards will be given out in multiple categories, including: Fastest overall sledMost creative designBest overall sledBest team spiritPeople’s choiceBest Catamount department entryThe following rules must be followed: Online registration form must be filled out by Thursday, March 5th! Registration may be cut off sooner based upon number of entries.Teams may consist of 1-4 people — all team members must ride in the sled.Sleds must be made of cardboard and tape – no other materials (paint and paper decorations are allowed). Dressing up in support of a design/theme is encouraged.Sled must have “Catamount” and “2026” clearly written on them.All participants must sign a waiver/release of liability prior to starting the event. Children under the age of 18 must have a parent/guardian sign the waiver/release of liability on their behalf.Event starts at 1PM – all participants must check-in prior to race start. We’re kicking off Clermont’s celebration of the Semiquincentennial with a series of presentations about Clermont at the brink of revolution. Join Interpretive Programs Assistant, Emily Robinson, for a talk about the Livingstons of Clermont in 1776 and the events that spurred them towards independence. Together, they explore Gómez’s extraordinary life and career, from her childhood in wartime Paris to her decades as a painter in New York and Cuba. Following the talk, Gómez will sign copies of her memoir Sita Gómez: A Historical Memoir (2025). Born in Paris in 1932 and now based in Hudson, New York, Gómez paints with vivid color and unflinching passion. Shaped by her multicultural upbringing and childhood experiences fleeing Nazi-occupied Paris and later Castro’s revolution, her work explores, challenges, and celebrates universal themes of gender, sexuality, history, and religion.
