Ms. Toyas and her students would like to cordially invite you to the reception to celebrate, “This is My Story” next to the high school auditorium on Thursday, May 16th at 6:30 p.m. “This is My Story” is a project created by our English Language Learners in grades 9-12 in partnership with Ms. Zavala and Mrs. Bishop. The students detailed their migration stories to the United States and advice to newcomers in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. They also have created individual art pieces that reflect themselves and their cultural identities. Students participated in the creation of a documentary where they read their migration journeys and shared advice to newcomer students. You can view our online exhibition here: https://www.hbschools.us/mystory/home During the reception, attendees will be able to read each of our students work in a digital format while viewing the students’ artwork in our exhibition outside of the auditorium. Light refreshments and appetizers will be prepared and served by Chef Curtis and his students. Afterwards, we will screen our documentary, This is Our Story: Out of The Darkness.
