Join us as we bring back our luncheon programs in a new way. On May 14th our museum educator Joe Schuerch will give a presentation about historic houses he has visited and will share a little of their history. Lunch begins at 12pm, program will start at 12:30pm.  Guests can choose from a boxed lunch provided by Clines Catering. The lunch choices are ham and cheese on marble rye or turkey and cheese sandwich on Italian, with pasta salad and dessert.  Coffee, tea, soda, or water provided. HistoryForge: Crowdsourcing Local HistoryAre you interested in local history and want to help preserve it? Come learn about HistoryForge, a community-sourced digital mapping project hosted by Binghamton University. Community volunteers transcribe census records on the website, which in turn get plotted onto an interactive, digital map. We have started with the 1910 census and have transcribed over 10,000 census records. We’re currently working on Binghamton’s Third Ward, though we hope in the future to incorporate Johnson City, Endicott, and other towns in Broome County. Our free transcription sessions are a great place to meet like-minded history enthusiasts, and food and drinks are provided. Anyone can learn how to do this as long as you have a computer, an internet connection, and the ability to read cursive (or an interest in learning how to do so!).Please make sure to bring your laptop with you to this event.If you have any questions reach out to the Project Coordinator, Mary Tuttle: [email protected] is FREE – no registration necessary.

Join students and friends of Mary Lou Muratori’s Voice Studio for “A Grand Night for Singing.”  The performances will begin at 7pm in the ballroom of the Phelps Mansion Museum. Additionally, the mansion will be open for tours from 6pm-9pm for self-guided tours. Trolley tours will be offered at 6pm and 7pm and provide riders with the history, architecture, and public art of Downtown Binghamton. The trolley is provided by the Broome County Arts Council, Preservation Association of the Southern Tier, the City of Binghamton, and the Phelps Mansion Museum.Capacity is limited-so be sure to arrive early!
