Geared toward Rancocas Nature Center member families with children and/or babies in backpacks, this morning guided hike is the perfect way to stretch those muscles, get some fresh air and sunshine, and enjoy the sights and sounds of spring. The Rancocas trails span out from the Visitors Center to the natural areas of the preserve. Registration is limited to 8 families per hike. Register online or at info@rancocasnaturecenter.org. Program is free; FRNC membership required. Inclement weather cancels.

Rancocas Members Only This weekly outdoor gardening series is for preschoolers accompanied by an adult. Each session will focus on a different aspect of gardening and include work time in the garden. Please dress accordingly. These programs are held outdoors with social distancing and are limited to the registration of 8 caregivers per session. Face masks are required for all attendees. For children ages 7 to 11 accompanied by a parent/guardian. The Rancocas Nature Center is a great place for elementary students to explore the sciences this spring. During this 2-hour program, weekly themes will focus on the changing rhythms of the season and offer the best hands-on experiences. Activities and trail hikes will visit areas of the Rancocas preserve where exploration, observation, and experimentation hold keys to the wetland, meadow, and forest habitats that our plants and animals call home. STEM concepts and animal interactions will be integrated into the activities for a fuller understanding of the local ecosystem. Registration limited to 10 children per session. All attendees must bring a mask and social distancing is practiced. This program is held outdoors—inclement weather cancels. Fee: $10/per child/per session (with a current Rancocas Nature Center membership). Register for one or more sessions by emailing info@rancocasnaturecenter.org

Each class will include a story, a natural area exploration, student-led inquiry, and free play. Based on the “forest schools” concept, this outdoor education model focuses on student interactions with natural spaces and offers hands-on learning in a woodland environment. This program is 100% outdoors and held rain or shine.
