READING WEEK FEBRUARY 15-18, 2020 THEME: 100 Books for 100 days I have book trivia/facts to be read for each day during morning announcements. I will coordinate that with Kari. Monday, February 15th Story starter prompt about friendship. I will send a Google doc out to all grades with the beginning of a story. Preschool will then continue it with a sentence or two. Jessica can judge how many sentences they want to add. When ready, Jessica will e-mail Tonya. From there, Tonya will take a few moments and do another sentence or two and e-mail Courtney so on and so forth. I’d like 3rd grade on up to add multiple sentences. On Friday, myself or a 6th grader will read what the MVS student body came up with Prompt: In 100 years, the world will look like………. Tuesday, February 16th I will drop off 100th Day Bookmarks in your mailboxes to all grades for the teachers to distribute to your students. K&1 will get books distributed to them courtesy of the Kiwanis. Wednesday, February 17th I will drop off individual baskets to each classroom of books the students probably aren’t familiar with. Books that do not get checked out a lot. Please have a DEAR time this day so they can pick one and look at it for 10 to 15 minutes (depending on their stamina). They cannot swap books. If they do not like what they grabbed, they can just put it back in the basket but it must stay there. I will be around to collect the baskets on Wed/Thurs and I will take care of disinfecting them. Thursday, February 18th Contest winners announced. Small reading prize will be distributed to one winner from K-3 and 4-6. Contest: Reading Bingo Challenge I will have 2 contests this year. The contest slips will be in your mailbox for you to distribute. I will go to morning announcements on Monday (2/15) and explain each contest. Very easy directions! K-3 - Reading Bingo. Do some of the suggested reading activities, mark it off. Get 5 in a row, turn paper back into me and get entered into the drawing. 4-6 - 100 Day Challenge sheet - Questions regarding the number 100. If they complete the sheet, they will turn it into me to get entered into the drawing.
