The Friends of the Jackson Public Library invite you to aconcert by Jackson’s own harper and singer, Dominique Dodge,on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 5:00 pm at the Jackson PublicLibrary. Dominique maintains strong ties to Cape Breton. Her2019 album, “Cànan nan Teud” (The Language of the Strings)features Gaelic songs from Cape Breton and explores therelationship between Puirt-à-Beul (mouth music) and traditionaldance tunes. A Fulbright Scholar and 2012 graduate of theUniversity of Limerick with an MA in Irish Music Performance,Dominique also holds a BA Honours in Scottish Music from theRoyal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow. In addition to herwork as a highly regarded performing artist, Dominique is afluent learner of Scottish Gaelic and an experienced traditionalarts educator. The concert is free and open to the public.
