Join the Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce and our Morning Mixer sponsor First Seacoast Bank for our April Morning Mixer, hosted by Maple Suites.    This fast-paced, structured, speed networking program starts promptly at 8am, ensuring participants make it through all stations before the end of the hour. Participants arriving after 8am will be assigned a station if there is a station available; any participants unassigned to a station are welcome to stay until the end of the program for general networking.   Each station will have two minutes to share information. After the two minutes are up, one participant will move to the next station and the timer will begin again. Diana Krall is the only jazz singer to have eight albums debut at the top of the Billboard Jazz Albums chart. To date, her albums have garnered two Grammy® Awards, ten Juno® Awards and have also earned nine gold, three platinum and seven multi-platinum albums. Krall’s unique artistry transcends any single musical style and has made her one of the most recognizable artists of our time. As The New York Times recently noted Krall possesses, “A voice at once cool and sultry, wielded with a rhythmic sophistication” Born in Nanaimo, British Columbia, which is outside of Vancouver, Krall grew up in the western part of Canada and began studying the piano when she was four years old. By the time she was 15, she was performing jazz locally and with the encouragement of her father, a stride pianist with a vast knowledge of such Twenties and Thirties keyboard masters as Fats Waller, James P. Johnson, and Earl Hines, she devoted herself to music. “I think Dad had every recording Fats Waller ever made,” she says, “and I tried to learn as many as I could.” Krall was still a teenager when she was awarded a scholarship to the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. After two years in Boston, she moved to Los Angeles, where she met her first jazz heavyweights, including bassist John Clayton, drummer Jeff Hamilton, pianist/singer Jimmy Rowles, and Ray Brown, the legendary bassist who served as her musical mentor. In 1993, the Montreal-based Justin Time Records released her debut album, Stepping Out. The following year she signed with GRP Records and recorded Only Trust Your Heart, which featured Ray Brown on bass and Stanley Turrentine on tenor saxophone. Only Trust Your Heart also marked the beginning of her association with Tommy LiPuma, a collaboration that would continue until LiPuma’s untimely passing in 2017. Krall’s success continued with her subsequent releases All for You, and Love Scenes but her watershed moment came in 1999 with the release of When I Look in Your Eyes, her first release for the historic Verve record label. The recording spent an unprecedented 52 weeks in the #1 position on Billboard’s Jazz chart, won two Grammy Awards and went platinum in the U.S. and Canada. Krall’s next album, The Look of Love, continued her international success and became a top ten seller on Billboard’s Top 200 Album charts. Since then she has released a string of recordings that have created an impressive body of work, including her critically acclaimed Turn Up The Quiet, which won two Juno Awards including “Producer of the Year.” Love Is Here To Stay found Diana collaborating with her long-time friend and colleague Tony Bennett. It was recorded with the Grammy award winning Bill Charlap Trio and the stunning result is a subtle, sophisticated and beautifully rendered love letter to The Gershwins’ music and their status as one of the premiere songwriters of the American popular standard. It is a masterclass in vocal delivery and phrasing and the command that Bennett and Krall display of the material in both their duets and solo tracks makes it appear effortless, belying the honed skills of the vocalists. The duet tracks include “Love Is Here to Stay,” “S’Wonderful,” “They Can’t Take That Away from Me” and “Fascinating Rhythm,” among them. Her album, This Dream Of You, has garnered critical acclaim from fans and press alike. This album is a loving conclusion of Diana’s 25-year working relationship with Tommy LiPuma. Shortly before LiPuma’s passing, the producer and artist discussed the abundance of great music recorded at their last sessions together. LiPuma was adamant that this music should be completed and issued. Krall and engineer, Al Schmitt therefore mixed and sequenced the album for the 2020 release and as such, honored their great and much-missed friend. From this release came the worldwide premiere of “Autumn In New York,” a cinematic ode to the city, directed by Diana’s long-time collaborator and friend Mark Seliger, offering a visual compliment to Krall’s loving and hopeful performance of the song. Diana Krall’s recordings have been included in several film soundtracks and she has expanded upon her role as a performer to include songwriting, producing and arranging and has brought her talents to collaborate with many other artists including Paul McCartney, Barbra Streisand and Tony Bennett. She tours extensively around the globe to sold out audiences, appearing at premiere jazz festivals and concert halls throughout North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.

Opening April 3, 2026, this milestone exhibition brings together artists from across New England in a juried celebration honoring one of NHAA’s founding members and passionate advocate for artists, Omer T. Lassonde. Over the past four decades, the Omer T. Lassonde Exhibition has become one of NHAA’s most anticipated annual events, showcasing outstanding contemporary work across a wide range of media and styles. As the exhibition marks its 40th anniversary, it continues to reflect NHAA’s enduring mission: to cultivate creativity, community, and culture through a shared love of art — affirming that art is for everyone, locally and globally. This year’s exhibition will be juried by Michael Rose, an art gallerist, writer, and arts leader based in Providence, Rhode Island. A sought-after juror and judge, Rose has helped shape dozens of exhibitions at organizations throughout New England. With his deep commitment to supporting artists and fostering thoughtful dialogue around contemporary art, Rose brings a valuable perspective to this year’s selection process. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top exhibitors: $1,000 for First Place, $750 for Second Place, and $500 for Third Place, along with several Honorable Mentions. This year’s exhibition drew strong interest from across the region, with 156 New England artists submitting 372 works, underscoring the enthusiasm regional artists have for participating in local gallery spaces. The 40th Annual Omer T. The Spice of Life- Sally Newman Portsmouth, NH- What if the ordinary moments of daily life were seen from above; alive with motion, color, and rhythm- In her latest exhibition, oil painter Sally Newman transforms familiar scenes into animated compositions that pulse with movement and storytelling. Newman’s distinctive style, which she calls “Anirealism,” merges realism with the heightened intensity of animation. Everyday imagery becomes layered and expressive, framed by bold dark lines that amplify color and emphasize action. Many of her paintings are viewed from above the picture plane, offering a sweeping perspective that draws viewers directly into the scene rather than positioning them as distant observers. Long fascinated by the world around her, Newman focuses on the gestures and routines that define human experience. Her work captures not just what we do, but the energy and spirit within those moments. A graduate of the City College of New York with further fine arts study at Notre Dame College in Manchester, New Hampshire, Newman has exhibited widely across the United States. Her work has received national recognition, including mention in the Huffington Post, and she has earned awards from numerous arts organizations. Most recently, she received the 2025 Artists Choice Award from the Nashua Artists Association and an Honorable Mention from the New Hampshire Art Association. Newman is a member of the New Hampshire Art Association, the National Association of Women Artists, and the Copley Society of Art. Her paintings are held in private collections throughout the country. Through “Anirealism,” Newman offers a renewed way of seeing; one that reveals the animation, color, and vitality embedded in everyday life. Spaces and Places Reimagined- Tom Cawthon Portsmouth, NH- A shaft of light across concrete. The geometry of a stairwell. The quiet tension between shadow and structure. In Spaces and Places Reimagined, photographer Tom Cawthon reveals the subtle drama embedded within architectural spaces and everyday environments. This series dissolves the boundary between the built world and abstraction. Through precise composition, sharp lines, and richly textured surfaces, Cawthon transforms familiar structures into contemplative studies of light, form, and atmosphere. His images encourage viewers to slow down and rediscover the poetry hidden in ordinary places. A self-taught photographer, Cawthon divides his time between Florida, New England, and Belize. His early years photographing the natural landscapes of North Florida, and covering collegiate sports, laid the foundation for a career that would later include leading graphic design, commercial photography, and videography teams. After stepping away from corporate work, he returned to a more personal exploration of the world around him, focusing on the spaces we inhabit and the human presence within them. Working in both color and black and white, Cawthon is known for his attention to detail and composition. Whether capturing architectural forms, street scenes, or abstract elements of the natural world, his photographs highlight moments of structural elegance. His work has been exhibited widely in galleries and institutions throughout North and Central America. In Spaces and Places Reimagined, Cawthon offers a new way of seeing; one that uncovers abstraction, intimacy, and meaning within the spaces we often overlook. Contemporary Currents Portsmouth, NH- In September 1961, Portsmouth residents Betty and Barney Hill reported what would become one of the most widely known UFO encounters in American history. Their account, describing large-eyed extraterrestrials, celestial maps, and mysterious spacecraft, quickly entered the cultural imagination, shaping how alien encounters would be depicted in film, television, and literature for decades. Presented alongside the Portsmouth Historical Society’s exhibition exploring the Hills’ story, NHAA’s Contemporary Currents brings together approximately 40 contemporary works that engage with themes of extraterrestrial encounters, space, and the powerful role of pop culture in shaping collective narratives. At the same time, the exhibition considers the idea of the “other”, inviting artists and viewers alike to reflect on alienation, curiosity, and the ways unfamiliar experiences can challenge our perceptions and expand our understanding of identity and belonging. Lake Street Dive have pushed the possibilities of pop music as a unifying force, not only through their eclectic sound—a boldly original cross-pollination of soul, folk, jazz, classic pop, and more—the five-piece’s all-embracing ethos has also made them a beloved live band known for building a potent connection among every crowd. In the making of their GRAMMY-nominated album Good Together, vocalist Rachael Price, bassist/background vocalist Bridget Kearney, drummer/background vocalist Mike Calabrese, keyboardist/vocalist Akie Bermiss, and guitarist/background vocalist James Cornelison reinforced the deep sense of purpose behind their output, often turning their attention to the many factors driving us apart today (e.g., unchecked technological growth, culturally imposed isolation, the cult of relentless self-optimization). Join the Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce and host The Herbal Path for an informative session on herbal remedies. Before the turn of the 20th century, plants were the foundation of medicine. Pharmacists and physicians were skilled in identifying, growing, preparing, and dispensing herbal remedies. Healing knowledge was rooted in close observation of nature, the seasons, and generations of lived experience. Plants were not considered “alternative”; they were medicine. This talk explores how our understanding and use of herbal remedies has shifted since 1900, as medicine moved from plant-based preparations to laboratory-derived pharmaceuticals. We’ll examine the pivotal role botanicals once played in medical education and practice, how industrialization and regulation reshaped healthcare — and as a result — our way of thinking about it. This conversation invites reflection on how traditional herbal wisdom can inform modern wellness today, and how integrating historical plant knowledge can help restore trust and resilience in contemporary healthcare.

Parents and caregivers will learn practical tools to strengthen communication, nurture relationships, and support lifelong skills. Gina Apgar, LICSW is a clinical social worker with 20 years’ experience working with children and families in various roles including early education, home visiting, family support, healthcare, and advocacy.
