Winter Festival of Prairie Cultures ProgramKids in Parks: Gingerbread Cabin ConstructionMeet at Homestead's Education Center on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 10 am.Kids and their adults are invited to build gingerbread cabins based on Homestead’s Palmer-Epard Cabin. Cabins from this Kids in Parks event must go home with their makers, but we encourage participants to bring their cabins with them on Sunday, December 14 at 2 pm if they wish to be entered into the competition.

Winter Festival of Prairie Cultures ProgramPaper Moon Pastries: Holiday Baking Traditions and Palmer-Epard Cabin Baking CompetitionMeet at Homestead's Education Center on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at 2 pm.Lindsey of Paper Moon Pastries will present holiday baking traditions and offer samples of kolaches and cookies. A baking competition inspired by the Palmer-Epard Cabin will follow the program.The competition will include three participation groups: • youth ages 7 and under• youth ages 8 to 16 • participants over age 16Lindsey will serve as head judge. Winners will receive $25 gift cards courtesy of the Friends of Homestead National Historical Park.
