The purpose of the Government Affairs Committee is to develop cooperative relationships with organizations and to establish and nurture partnerships with local, state and federal government officials. To provide leadership, education and advocacy that enhances the economic environment and represents the interests of the Columbia business community.  A strong advocacy in governmental affairs will maintain and advance the region’s business climate, attract new membership and be an effective, respected voice of the community.  Co-chaired by Connie Leipard, Quality Drywall and Randy Cole, Columbia Housing Authority.

The Special Events Committee is the event planning committee for Women’s Network. This committee is in charge of several large events throughout the year, including Women’s Network fall and spring mixers, the ATHENA International Awards Banquet, Roses for Mentors and the Women’s Network Holiday Party. This committee meets on the first Wednesday of each month at noon at the Chamber.

The Orientation marks the official kickoff of the Leadership Columbia experience, an immersive introduction where participants connect with classmates, meet program facilitators, and gain a deeper understanding of what lies ahead. This half-day event sets the stage for a year of growth, collaboration, and community engagement. Participants will be introduced to program expectations, leadership frameworks, and the key themes that will shape their Leadership Columbia journey. If you are a "named representative" for your Chamber member business, you're welcome to serve on any one of our nine available committees, which is a great way for you to use your membership, to get involved in your community, to network and to market your business.  If you want to learn more about how to be sure you are getting the most from your membership, please join us at one of our complimentary Chamber 101: Introductory & Refresher Courses.  We offer six each year.  You can register for them online at www.ColumbiaMOChamber.com or by calling (573) 817-9110.  This popular class is free but space is limited so registration is required.  Please consider joining us at our Membership Committee meeting. This committee works to provide a warm welcome to our new Chamber Members and also to newly named representatives. We do this by calling, sending a card, making a visit or offering to host them at events.

  Business In Motion EXPO Planning Committee Join the Columbia Chamber of Commerce for Chamber Day 2026! This exciting day will kick-off with our last Quarterly Membership Breakfast of the program year before the BUSINESS IN MOTION EXPO, formally known as Showcase CoMo, beginning at 9 a.m. This year the BIM Planning Committee will be joining forces with our Workforce Development Division to create our third annual Business Expo and Hiring event.  During the event, businesses and employers will showcase everything from products, services, job opportunities, continued education and internship programs. This will give attendees the opportunity to learn, apply for positions, interview onsite and generate good networking contacts for business and personal use.
