Important InformationRegistration is not required but it is requested so we can notify participants in the event of a cancellation. Event OverviewDiscover the place where the story of Minneapolis begins. Dakota people call the Mississippi River “Haha Wakpa ” the river of the falls and refer to St. Anthony Falls as Owámniyomni. This guided walking tour explores the cultural historical and natural significance of the only true waterfall along the 2 350‑mile Mississippi River. You’ll visit key archaeological and historic sites and enjoy expansive views of the falls from the Stone Arch Bridge.Tours begin at the bandstand in Father Hennepin Bluff Park. The route includes stops along the Stone Arch Bridge and surrounding riverfront where a ranger will share stories about the area’s past present and future. Accessibility & AccommodationsThe walking route is on level paved trails and is fully accessible.If you require additional accommodations please contact the park in advance at [email protected] so staff can help ensure a comfortable experience. What to ExpectThe tour covers up to 1.25 miles (approximately 2 km). Some areas have limited shade. Wear weather‑appropriate clothing and comfortable footwear.

Programs may be canceled due to late‑season vegetation growth in the lake. Event OverviewPickerel Lake offers an ideal environment for beginners learning paddling skills and for returning paddlers sharpening their techniques. A National Park Service ranger will guide you across this calm lake surrounded by floodplain forest and scenic bluffs. Bald eagles river otters and abundant mid‑summer lily pads are commonly seen. Adaptive EquipmentAdaptive paddling equipment is available including hand adaptations and balance‑assisting outriggers. Please email [email protected] at registration. A minimum two‑week notice is appreciated. Registration IncludesOne seat in the selected kayak a paddle and a PFD provided by Paddle Share.Tandem kayak spots must be reserved with a partner.
