Jody's Film Series Presents: The Lady in Number 6: Music Saved My Life (Filmmaker, Malcolm Clark) Total running time: 38 minutes Was winner of Academy Award for Best Documentary (Short Subject) This is the story of Alice Herz-Sommer, oldest living Holocaust survivor at age 109. She grew up in Prague, where, imagine this, her parents' friends included Franz Kafka and Gustav Mahler. Alice herself became a classical pianist. And then the Nazis took over. But her story dwells less on the horrors of concentration camps, and more on what gave her hope to survive. (Turns out Chopin had a big hand in it.) Come spend time in her tiny London flat, where she'll engross you with her candor, humor and capacity to live so fully. Enjoy the free films, the stay for the post-film discussion facilitated by Jody. With thanks to the collaboration of the Hamline Midway Coalition, the Hamline Midway Elders, and the Hamline Midway Library.
