Drop in to an ECFE (Early Childhood Family Education) class at the library! Learn about library resources and connect with books and materials while participating in parent-child activities and experiences that foster children’s social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and language skills. All classes are taught by licensed early childhood teachers and parent educators through Saint Paul Community Education and Saint Paul Public Schools. This class is intended for parents/caregivers and children newborn to kindergarten age.

Develop artistic skills and explore your creative side with Amy Wilderson, a local artist who creates jewelry using metalsmithing, wire-working and knotting techniques, with discarded objects, reclaimed metals and gemstones. Her work taps into memory, culture and heritage to create wearable, living stories.  All supplies are provided, no experience is necessary, and all teens are welcome. No registration required and you can join in at any time. Amy Wilderson is in the Createch Studio on Tuesdays and Thursdays September-March (check the calendar for specific dates).  This program is offered in partnership with COMPAS Arts and is made possible by the McNeely Foundation.

Come celebrate the launch of The Blue House I Loved, a new children’s picture book by award-winning Saint Paul author Kao Kalia Yang. Set in the Payne/Phalen neighborhood on Saint Paul’s East Side, the book tells the story of a newly arrived Hmong refugee family as they make their first home in the United States—just off Payne and Maryland Avenues—crowded, imperfect, deeply loved, and remembered long after it is gone. Join us at Arlington Hills Library, located in the same neighborhood that inspired the story, for a special evening with the author. The event will feature a live read-aloud of the book, a Q&A with Kao Kalia Yang, and a book signing. With lyrical prose and ethereal illustrations by artist and architect Jen Shin, The Blue House I Loved honors refugee experiences and explores the meaning of home, memory, and belonging. All are welcome. This free event is appropriate for all ages. Refreshments will be served. 6:00–6:30 p.m. Opening Remarks & Read-aloud 6:30–6:45 p.m. Q&A 6:45–7:30 p.m. Book signing

Looking for a space to heal, grow, and connect? You’re not alone—and this might be the place for you. Join the Knyaw Book Club for early to mid-level Knyaw professionals to reflect on and unpack the cultures we've grown out of—and into. It’s a space for conversation, curiosity, and community. Every experience matters. No story is too small.  The first session will be Saturday November 8th, 10AM at Arlington Hills Public Library. The group will establish which Saturdays work best for everyone at the first meeting.
