This clay class is designed with everyone in mind beginner, intermediate, or advanced. The class introduces and/or continues to promote the fundamentals of wheel throwing and ceramic surface decoration to students despite their level of skill/knowledge.  Students will learn or continue to practice essential pottery techniques, including centering clay, opening, pulling walls, and shaping basic forms such as cylinders, bowls, and plates. As skills develop, students will explore a variety of decorative methods to personalize their work, including carving, texture, slip application, underglaze painting, and glazing techniques. Throughout the course, students will gain an understanding of the ceramic process from raw clay to finished piece, including proper studio practices, trimming, and finishing. Emphasis is placed on creativity, craftsmanship, and building confidence at the potter’s wheel. No prior experience is required, making this class an ideal class for all walks of clay.

(Lee más para abajo para ver la versión en español) Meet us behind the Guild, along the river, for an unforgettable evening of never-before-seen visuals- there will be projected art on the back wall of the Guild’s building, and if you’d like to be one of the featured projection artists, please consider applying here by June 24th! The City of Northfield & the Northfield Arts Guild are hosting a celebration on the night of July 4th (Miss America’s 250th birthday), and YOU are invited! Remember, each and every one of us make this country great and UNIQUE. Get ready for a night of good eats, make-and-take art activities, live music, light/projection art, and community building from 5PM-12AM at the Riverside entrance of the Guild on 304 Division St. S.(Scroll below to see it on the map!) This project was made possible by funds from the City of Northfield’s Art in Public Places Program. Venga a la entrada por el río del Northfield Arts Guild para una noche inolvidable con visuales increíbles — habrá arte proyectado en la fachada posterior del edificio Guild, y si quiere ser uno de los artistas destacados, por favor entregue una solicitud aquí (¡antes del 24 de junio!). Summer Camp at the Guild 2026: Our TownWhat if kids were in charge? This summer, the Guild transforms into a city planning crew run entirely by youth! From the architecture of the skyline to the laws of the land, our campers are the lead architects, mayors, and visionaries. Together, they will build a collaborative cardboard installation that imagines what a community for kids, by kids might look like. The Master BlueprintThis camp will focus on installation as an artform.  Each group will use cardboard, mixed media, and 3D engineering to expand this growing masterpiece. Registration is based on age going into the 2026-2027 school year. The Dream-City Developers3rd – 6th Graders | July 6–10, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM  $130 The Task: Build the amenities. Now that the skyline is standing, it’s time to make the town fun! Cotton candy stands on every corner? Gravity-defying parks? This group will decide what a kid-run community offers its citizens and build the world of their dreams. Capacity: 10 registrants

This is a great class for people with some experience who want to continue to learn/practice wheel throwing basics, develop great healthy throwing habits, explore some variations to the cylinder. The goal is to improve throwing techniques. First two days will be dedicated to throwing. The 3rd day will be for trimming and on the last day we will glaze. (Some experience is recommended, but beginners are welcomed).
