For children and their families. Join us for an easy-going session of kids’ chess. Volunteers will be ready to teach all chess beginners how to play or facilitate play with other kids. Also, fun crafts, puzzles, and a large collection of LEGO® will be available to build and create. Materials provided. Just drop in for this informal activity.

Needlecraft

Bring your needlepoint, knit and crochet projects and get acquainted. Help us create an Uptown community of needle crafters. Drop in or stay the entire time. Everyone is welcome.

Adult Tutoring

Adult Tutoring is a drop-in program for adults seeking 1:1 help with basic level reading, writing, language, and math. Adults will work with trained volunteer tutors during tutoring hours at the library. Drop-ins are welcome on a first-come, first-served basis.

Youth Game Night

Grades 3-8. Join us at Cedar Riverside Opportunity Center to play board games, card games, and Nintendo Switch provided by the library. Sponsor: Friends of the Hennepin County Library.

Do you want to learn more on how to use the library's public computers, scanners, or software? Or have a particular online, email, formatting or printing issue that needs assistance? A computer tutor volunteer will be available at the library to offer aid and guide you in completing your task. Drop-ins are welcome on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note your computer needs must be limited in time but we will try at least to get you started in the right direction. Call 612-543-8400 before you arrive if you want to confirm the tutor’s availability.
