"No Matter What You Tell Me" by Benjamin Boucvalt

Lanesboro Arts is excited to present “No Matter What You Tell Me” an original play written and performed by Benjamin Boucvalt at the St. Mane Theatre on Saturday, May 16th, 2026 at 7:00 pm! A truly gripping night of storytelling that dives deep into the heart of human connection and forgiveness, No Matter What You Tell Me is a years-long journey of a son searching for the truth about his family, while believing them incapable of doing wrong. Uncovering a family secret about his late uncle sets off a chain of events that brings him face to face with his own foundations, forcing him to wrestle with everything he’s been taught to believe. Hilarious, heartbreaking, and fiercely hopeful, this powerful story leads from one secret into another. A story that proves how family is fraught, never really what it appears, and, despite it all, so very necessary. Benjamin Boucvalt has spent most of his career on stage doing classical work. He performed as a resident company member at Great River Shakespeare Festival continuously for the past 13 years. Notable performances include As You Like It/Orlando, Julius Caesar/Cassius, Midsummer/Oberon, Winter’s Tale/Leontes, Cymbeline/Iachimo, and Romeo and Juliet/Romeo. Other theatres Benjamin has worked with include the Asolo Repertory Theatre, Playmakers Repertory Company, St. Petersburg Shakespeare Company, and the Orlando Shakespeare Theater. Benjamin’s latest book, “The Name Hennessy,” was published in 2024. He voices one of the main characters in the audiobook that was also released that same year. It is a fully dramatized audiobook, with individual actors reading each character, all recorded together on stage. Benjamin is also an active martial artist and does fight choreography for stage and film across the country. Surprise Sculpture - June 16th

Explore creativity and collaboration with Lanesboro Arts! Since 2013, Surprise Sculpture has provided arts education opportunities for local students. For six weeks each summer, Lanesboro Arts staff and volunteers – many of whom are professional artists – lead participants in constructing large-scale, site-specific sculptures for public spaces using a mixture of upcycled, recycled, and fine art materials. The program serves over 150 rural youth and adults from Lanesboro, Harmony, Preston, Rushford, and beyond each year. This summer, Surprise Sculpture will be held every Tuesday for six weeks starting June 16 and ending July 21 at the St. Mane Theatre from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. FREE for ages 5 to 15! Surprise Sculpture Dates for Summer 2026: June 16June 23June 30July 7July 14July 21Surprise Sculpture works towards building children’s art making skills as well as emphasizing collaboration and group decision making. Each project affords students the opportunity to learn about various principles and methods of art making. Attendees are routinely asked to work in large or small group settings, working together to create work that is for the community to enjoy rather than projects that are taken home at the end of each class. Program Goals1. Provide free, high-quality arts education experiences to rural youth 2. Encourage community pride and heightened cultural identity through public art 3. Teach creative problem-solving, inter-generational learning, and community service through hands-on art-making 4. Bring awareness to, and celebrate community assets and traditions 5. Increase the beauty of overlooked places in the community, encouraging walkability, and fostering public interaction. Preregistration is encouraged but not required.
