Over 20 percent of household trash is food scraps, like fruit peels, eggshells, coffee grounds, bones, and more. By separating your food scraps, you can help them turn back into soil instead of becoming waste. Learn why recycling food scraps matters and how you can act by participating in this innovative, new way to recycle them from home. We'll share how residents of eligible areas in Washington County can get started and tips for success.The Food Scraps Pickup Program is a joint program for Washington and Ramsey County residents through Ramsey/Washington Recycling & Energy. The program is currently available to residents of Cottage Grove and Newport. Starting spring 2024 it will also be available to residents of Grey Cloud Island Township, Landfall, Oakdale, St. Paul Park, and Woodbury. This program will eventually be available to all Washington County residents. Free food scraps collection containers will be available to eligible program attendees!

There are tutorials and projects selected by a librarian to help you get into a creative mindset. Beginners to these machines are welcome. No experience needed. Basic materials are supplied. Every second and fourth Wednesday of the month from 5 to 7 p.m.No registration necessary. Ages 13-18.

As you wait for your time slot with the VR, the Nintendo Wii U will be out for open play from 3 to 4:30 p.m.For ages 8-18. A participant waiver is required for VR.Important! Minors must have a parent or legal guardian sign the waiver before they can play. Waivers will be available at the event to sign or you can stop by the library earlier to sign at the information desk.
