Youth, Preschool, Elementary, Families.Our Candy House program is back for some festive holiday crafting! We'll supply everything from icey frosting to a variety of candies for decorating, as well as graham crackers and cartons to build your best candy houses. Starting November 29th, call (231-932-8503) or visit the Youth Services department to sign your family up for one of the four time slots in our McGuire Community Room (10, 10:45, 11:30, 12:15). Each person signed up (adults included) will receive a paper ticket that they turn in at the event. We are limiting each time slot to 75 people (including adults) to create a healthy environment for our patrons, staff and volunteers. Tickets are non-transferable to another session.*Please arrive for your time slot at least 5 minutes early. Any reservation not used within 10 minutes of the start time will be given to the next available party.

Participants should be dedicated to play, and be willing to give input on the world, system, and story created by the group as well as choosing a player to take up the role as GM. Depending on what the group chooses, the host has 5 systems they can pick on what they find will fit the campaign better. Final decisions will be made by the host. Expect to spend about 4 hours per session.Please respond to the registration email so that some pre-planning can take place. This first meet-up will be building the world and setting expectations. January 3rd game play will begin in earnest and will take place every other Saturday at 11:00am. Beginners and experienced young adult players (16-23 years old) are welcome.Note: You may want to bring a notebook or tablet to this program. You may also bring a small, odorless snack.

Join us and Lisa George for a class on Ageless Grace Neuroplasticity Exercises. The Ageless Grace Brain Health Program is based on consciously choosing to change the brain through physical movements similar to playful childhood activities that fired neurons and developed neural pathways from birth to mid-teens. All 21 Simple Tools for Lifelong Comfort and Ease can be practiced by almost anyone of any age or ability. The exercises are designed to be practiced seated, in order to stimulate the five primary functions of the brain (strategic planning, memory and recall, analytical thinking, creativity and imagination and kinesthetic learning) by doing unfamiliar movements, or creating new ways to do an activity that is already familiar. The movements are spontaneous and organic, with no need to learn any special choreography. Each of the brain-changing tools also focus on a primary physical skill necessary for lifelong optimal function (i.e. joint mobility, balance, spinal flexibility, upper body strength, coordination) - and all promote the “Three R’s” of Ageless Grace, the ability to respond, react and recover.
