With this unique craft, you’ll create a three-dimensional teacup and saucer using torn book pages. Guided by a template, you’ll assemble and shape your teacup and add charming accents of flowers or hearts. Finish off your piece with a personalized tag on the teabag for a special touch.   In this virtual program, author Michelle Young will discuss her new book, The Art Spy: The Extraordinary Untold Tale of WWII Resistance Hero Rose Valland. A riveting and stylish saga set in Paris during World War II, The Art Spy uncovers the true story of how an unlikely heroine infiltrated the Nazi leadership to save the world’s most treasured masterpieces. This book was longlisted for the 2025 American Library of Paris Book Award. Michelle Young, an award-winning journalist and author, is a graduate of Harvard College in the History of Art and Architecture and holds a master’s degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation, where she is a Professor of Architecture. Cinephilia is an academic word literally meaning “love of cinema,” but it also contains hints of nostalgia and passion for a film art that was undoubtedly the defining media experience of the twentieth century. As such, cinema has a variegated and fascinating history which extends well beyond the Hollywood we are all familiar with.  Meant as a tribute to the film art around the world, from the days of silent cinema to the new waves and beyond, our cinephile Mondays is a slow and tasteful appreciation of the First Century of Cinema.  The films will be selected on the basis of their relevance for the development of the film art.  On the last Monday of the month, cinephiles of the world unite!  Watch a movie at home and then join Film history & Media studies Professor MV for a virtual discussion.   The world is fascinated by the recent jewel robbery at the Louvre, and so are the Curators of Crime, mystery authors Connie Berry, Lane Stone, Nina Wachsman, and M.A. Monnin. In this program, the Curators of Crime will examine the public’s fascination with the recent burglary of Napoleonic jewels at the Louvre and discuss how, as authors, they have used the same elements in their books.
