The Faroes are a group of eighteen remote islands settled by Vikings over a thousand years ago. Their volcanic origin, and later erosion by retreating ice age glaciers, has given the islands an austere beauty of steep ridges, sharp pyramidal peaks, and deep rounded valleys. Carpeted in myriad shades of green from summer rains and winter snowmelt, the islands are filled with cascading waterfalls and the verdant fields dotted with turf-roofed wooden houses, ancient churches, and lots of gently grazing sheep. Barry Pell recently traveled to nearly all the Faroe Islands, photographing the landscape and meeting its people. He left with the impression that the wild, wet and windy Faroes are the most beautiful of all the places he’s traveled. Presenter: Barry Pell is a world traveler and photojournalist. He has traveled widely over five decades, visiting and documenting landscapes and cultures in 170 countries on all continents. Mr. Pell has also lived and traveled in China, eastern Europe, north Africa, and South America. He currently lectures on international cultures in a variety of locations. Enjoy this all levels yoga class which incorporates stretching, strength building, and breathwork for a challenging and accessible flow. We will work on poses in seated, all fours, standing, plank/ downward dog, and supine positions to access the entire body, all to a fun upbeat playlist. Class will end with a relaxing savasana (rest pose). Beginners welcome! Please bring your own yoga mat & blocks. Limited yoga mats & blocks are available to borrow at the library. Open to Ages 16+ and Adults Sandra lives in Sherborn with her family. She is a 200hr CYT (Certified Yoga Teacher) and is comprehensively certified in Pilates. Classes will cover a variety of subjects, including floral, still-life, landscapes and seasonal themes. Learn all about watercolor paint, paper, brushes and other related materials. Various watercolor painting techniques, color mixing and composition will also be covered.
