This weaving program invites community members to explore this centuries-old textile art using a vibrant array of yarns and fibers. We will experiment with natural, recycled, and synthetic materials—thick and thin—to create expressive woven artworks full of color and texture. In a relaxed, welcoming setting, you'll learn a range of weaving techniques while cultivating mindfulness through the rhythmic, meditative process of warping the loom and weaving row by row. Whether new to the craft or expanding skills, you'll slow down, embrace creativity and imperfection, and engage with weaving traditions practiced worldwide and by contemporary artists locally and beyond. About the Presenter: Second Nature Arts is a Massachusetts-based arts organization dedicated to nurturing creativity, curiosity, and confidence through hands-on art experiences. Our toddler story time for ages 1-2 includes songs, short books, lots of rhymes, and other visual methods of storytelling. This story time is designed to engage children at this very active and wiggly age. Siblings are welcome. Please register your entire party so we have an accurate headcount. You are welcome to call us the morning of a program to ask whether there are any spaces remaining. We have toddler sessions on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, so please be sure you show up for the one you registered for! Important information: •Our story times fill up, so we ask you to sign up for only one story time per week, unless you are bringing siblings to sessions for their respective age groups. Book Bites is a monthly discussion & potluck of a featured cookbook and meets every first Thursday of the month. Instead of plotlines and characters, we discuss food and recipes! Pick the recipe you'd like to make and include it when you register below after clicking "Continue". Bring in your dish to share with the group. We'll try each dish and talk about what went well, the challenges, what we would do different, and what we loved or disliked! The cookbook for March is "Tasting History: Explore the Past Through 4,000 Years of Recipes" by Max Miller. Some copies are available to check out at the 2nd floor reference desk. The following recipes have been claimed: - Globi (page 35) - Gingerbread (page 67) - Little Meat Cakes (page 196) - Makshufa (page 201) - Payasam (page 172) - Sally Lunn Buns (page 102) - Tart de Bry (page 76) - Texas Pecan Pie (page 236) - Vinegar Candy (page 232) What do I need to bring on the day of the meeting? Your prepared recipe in a serving bowl or tray. We will supply paper plates, etc., but if you would like to be eco-friendly, feel free to bring your own reusable plates/utensils. You may also bring a non-alcoholic beverage if you would like, and water will be provided. If you would like to swap leftovers with others, feel free to bring a food storage container from home.   My recipe is supposed to be served warm or hot. Can I heat it up at the Library? We are unable to reheat or refrigerate dishes, so please bring your dish ready to serve.  Can I substitute ingredients or alter the recipe? Yes! Join the adventure guild and explore the Roaming Realms! Did you murder Dorian Heartwood? Maybe, but probably not with the list of other suspects involved. It's up to you to figure out who did it and clear your names! To play all you need is a level 5 character. Premade character sheets will be provided. As we will not have time to make character sheets at the start of sessions, you will need to attend a D&D 101 if you need help making your own character sheet.
