On Saturday, December 7 we will be hosting a Children’s mini-wreath making workshop in the barn from 10am to noon – come in any time during that time period to make a wreath. We’ll provide wreath forms, fresh cut greens, decorative yarn, and some “berry” poms for decoration. Once their wreath is complete children will get a ticket to grab a cup of cocoa and take some fun photos in the decorated barn! This is a drop in program. No pre-registration required. Adults are asked to stay with their kids during this program. All wreath attendees will get a ticket for a free cup of cocoa. Create Your Own Beautiful Wreath at Soule Homestead’s Wreath Making Workshop! Long-time volunteer and instructor, Mary Ann Cunningham will lead two Saturday sessions of wreath making workshops using freshly cut winter greens harvested at Soule. Director Kelly MacDonald Weeks will be leading the chicken workshop simultaneously in the classroom as well as the Tuesday evening workshops. In just 1.5 hours, you’ll transform a selection of natural materials into a stunning, handcrafted wreath that will brighten up any space. Whether you’re new to crafting or a seasoned DIY enthusiast, this workshop is designed to be fun and accessible. Our experienced instructors will guide you through each step, from choosing your materials to assembling your wreath. The workshop includes fresh cut greens, ribbon, wire, wreath backs and other additional decorations. Attendees are encouraged to bring special decorations they'd like to add.  Space is extremely limited for these workshops, so grab your spot while they're still available. Workshop Details: Dates:   - December 7, 2024, at 10:00 AM & 1:00 PM   - December 10, 2024, at 6:30 PM Duration: 1.5 hours Age Group: 12 and up Please Note: We ask that you select your wreath and cannot allow for switching styles once you've registered. Join us on December 13 and 14, 2024, for a family-friendly adventure as our scenic trails are illuminated by hundreds of glowing luminarias. Event Details: - Dates: December 13 & 14, 2024 - Time: 5 PM – 8:00 PM (Last Walk at 7:45 PM) - Location: Soule Homestead Education Center Experience winter magic at the farm with an enchanted luminaria walk though our nature trails at Soule. The trails will be lined candles & a storywalk about winter solstice. We strongly encourage participants to bring flashlights. Each walk will be limited to 15 people & run in 20 min increments. Advanced ticket purchase recommended. Walk may not be suitable for all—trails are not flat or even. As you stroll through our beautifully lit trails, you’ll be surrounded by the warm glow of luminarias, creating a magical atmosphere perfect for families, friends, and anyone looking to enjoy the festive season with a book highlighting the Winter Solstice along the trail. This captivating experience is ideal for all ages, offering a unique way to celebrate the holidays together. Appropriate footwear is strongly recommended. Rug Braiding – Pre-registration required Workshop Time: Runs typically every 3rd Saturday, from 10:30 am – 1:30 pm (check dates below) Workshop Fee: $30 for new member students & $40 for new non-members for each of the first 2 classes, and then $15 for returning members, $25 returning for non-members Workshop Location: East Classroom Pre-registration is now required. We need a minimum of 6 attendees to run the class. Registration closes Wednesday before the workshop. New students are required to complete 2 lessons before they can be considered returning workshop participants. Join our rug braiding workshop with instructor Mary Guidoboni. Discover this uniquely American art form. All levels are welcome. Students returning from past sessions may bring unfinished projects to work on. Everyone should bring scissors, needles, thread, and wool (available for new students.) Wool is available to purchase here.
