Emily Makrez, owner of F-Word Farm and educator on all things fermenting, farming, and foraging related, will show you how to pickle what's in season to make the most of your harvest and prevent food waste. You will leave with the knowledge and confidence to be able to safely ferment practically anything! AARP Foundation Tax-Aide will again partner with the Marlborough to offer free income tax assistance and filing.  Tax-Aide volunteers are trained and IRS certified to prepare most personal income tax returns except for returns with rental income, crypto-currency exchanges, and other less common types of items.  For a complete list of what theycan help with and documents needed to complete a tax return, visit aarpfoundation.org/TaxAide. The program does not discriminate in any way, but is intended for low to moderate income taxpayers, with a focus on the elderly.  Volunteers will offer in-person service at the Marlborough Library every other Saturday mornings from February 7 thru April 4.Appointments are required; call the library to schedule an appointment after January 15. Pre-Appointment paperwork, available at the library, will need to be filled out and brought with you to your appointment.

We're excited to welcome back Alyssa Giaquinto from the Giaquinto Wildlife Rehabilitation Center! She'll teach us why spring is "baby season" for most of our native wildlife and discuss some of the baby animals we may encounter in the woods, and even in our own backyard. We'll learn about how long they stay with their parents and when they are old enough to go off on their own, as well as what to do if you find any animals you believe to be orphaned and what may cause them to become true orphans. You'll also have the chance to meet Alyssa's educational ambassador barn owl, Bella, and learn all about her vulnerable species!Join us in the Grice Community Room at 2pm on Saturday, April 11th.
