Learn the art of needle felting! Using loose wool fibers and a special barbed needle, you'll craft an adorable Kirby figurine from scratch. Shape, sculpt, and attach pieces together to bring your favorite pink hero to life. A supply kit will be provided. After registration, you will receive an email with instructions on how to pick up your supply kit and access to the pre-recorded instructional video. Pop up Art School will guide you with step-by-step instructions, making it easy for all skill levels. Watch on your own time and complete at your own pace! Access to the video will be available 12/22 - 1/20 and you can watch as many times as you'd like during that time period.  If you become unable to attend this program, please notify the library as soon as possible. The Library 50+ Job Seekers Networking Group meets via Zoom on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month, from 9:30am to 11:30am. Informal networking takes place from 9am to 9:30am and 11:30am to noon. If you are unemployed and actively looking, underemployed, seeking a new career direction, re-entering the job market after a long employment gap, or recently retired and looking for your "Encore Career," this networking group program is perfect for you! Remember, 85% of jobs are found through networking! Join us in a professional forum for networking with peers in a safe and comfortable environment conducive to developing new relationships and developing skills and strategies to help in your career transition. Each meeting features a new topic. Meetings include a presentation and interactive workshop on topics relevant to career transition, guest speakers, access to hiring managers, small group breakout rooms to network, and 1-on-1 coaching guidance. Participating on a regular basis will give job seekers the many tools and strategies needed for a successful job search. Each biweekly meeting is facilitated by Deborah Hope, MBA, PCIC, an experienced executive career coach. Deborah is a former Fortune 500 executive, investment banker and entrepreneur. She transitioned to executive coaching over 12 years ago. Deborah has coached with Harvard Business School Executive Education programs and the Massachusetts Conference for Women. She has been trained or certified in a variety of coaching models and assessment tools. Deborah has facilitated 50+ job seekers networking groups since 2016.  This week's topic (January 7) is Self-Assessment. Join us for a monthly workshop where we will explore watercolor basics. These workshops are intended for adults 60+. All materials for the class will be provided. Registration is required. Participants may only register for one class per month. Spaces are limited. If you are unable to attend, please cancel your reservation to release your spot. The workshops will be taught by artist Lea Baecksteiner. Lea is an artist and illustrator with a Masters in Fine Arts and Illustration from the Neue Kunst Schule in Basel, Switzerland. Originally from Switzerland, she now lives and works in the greater Boston area. Her range of artistic media includes oil, gouache, watercolor, ink, and digital painting. In addition to her work as a fine artists, Lea provides illustrations for books, magazines, and printed materials. Her style has been described as playful, minimalist, and well-proportioned. Lea has exhibited across New York City, Basel, and Boston areas. View her work and list of exhibitions on her website! This program is presented in partnership with the Munroe Center for the Arts. When the sun sets and the world grows quiet, a different kind of vision comes alive... Join us at the Lexington Community Center to celebrate From Her Lens: an exhibition that gathers the work of women night photographers from across the globe, offering a luminous collection of perspectives shaped by patience, curiosity, and wonder. Come explore the photographs, talk with the artists and enjoy light refreshments.  Night photography has long been a field where women’s voices are less visible, yet their artistry has always been present—transforming darkness into stories of light. This exhibition celebrates that vision as a contribution that expands the way we see the night.  Through each photograph, viewers are invited into a dialogue between shadow and glow, silence and discovery—a testament to the richness women bring to the nocturnal canvas.
