His life has been analyzed in books and even films, but little is known of the circumstances surrounding his untimely death. Take a glimpse into the world of one of music's biggest heroes as we appreciate his genius and attempt to untangle the mystery. Dan Lupo, creator of FiveMinuteMozart.com, a music education platform with over 2 million views and 20k+ subscribers, will present an incredible music education program chronicling the life and achievement of one of music history's greatest composers. Registrants will receive a link to access the Zoom Webinar via email.** Retired Massachusetts Superior Court Justice Dennis Curran is excited to continue his "Great American Unsung Heroes Who Changed The Course Of History" series. This month, learn about Nikola Tesla. Called a genius by some, a madman by others, and an enigma by nearly everyone, Tesla was probably the greatest inventor the world has ever known. He was, without a doubt, a trail blazer who created astonishing, life-transforming devices. But he never received the credit he richly deserved. It was Tesla, not Edison, who harnessed the alternating electric current (AC) we rely upon today. It was arguably Tesla - not Marconi - who invented the radio. And it was Tesla who introduced the fundamentals of computers, robotry and missile science, which helped pave the way for satellites, microwaves and lasers. Tesla remains one of the least recognized scientific pioneers and never earned the household name recognition of an Edison, Westinghouse, Marconi or Einstein. He will get his proper due in this enlightening talk. About Dennis: Dennis J. Curran served as a Massachusetts judge for 16 years, including in the Superior Court from 2006 to 2018. Prior to his time on the bench, Curran worked as an Assistant District Attorney and First Assistant Legal Counsel to the Governor, in addition to work in private practice. A graduate of Boston Latin School, the University of Pennsylvania, and the University of Virginia School of Law, Curran has taught law at Tufts University, Roger Williams University School of Law, and Brown University. Registrants will receive a link to access the Zoom Webinar via email.** Rodin is believed by many scholars to be the first modern sculptor. Not inclined to decorative and thematic works, his stark realism, as seen in the Burghers of Calais, set a new direction for sculpture. Rodin worked on the Gates of Hell for his entire life, many of the 186 figures becoming iconic sculptures on their own, such as The Thinker and The Kiss. Examine Rodin’s processes in both marble and bronze and explore his relationships with other artists such as Camille Claudel and Claude Monet. ABOUT JANE: Jane Oneail holds a master’s in Art History from Boston University and a master’s in Education from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education. She is a NH native and has worked at some of the state’s most esteemed cultural institutions, including the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen, where she served as Executive Director, and the Currier Museum of Art, where she held the role of Senior Educator. Jane founded the Currier’s Alzheimer’s Cafe and led the tour program for the museum and the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Zimmerman House. She has taught Art History at the college level for more than a decade, most recently at the NH Institute of Art. Culturally Curious's mission is to engage, educate and unify groups through facilitated arts experiences that inspire joy and foster critical and creative thinking, as well as an appreciation for our shared humanity. Join us for a holiday classic, presented by the very talented Aidan Scrimgeour and friends! This family-friendly concert features music from "A Charlie Brown Christmas," originally performed by the Vince Guaraldi Trio. Sign up early as space is limited! Aidan Scrimgeour is a musician, composer and educator based in Brooklyn (NY). Growing up in Salem (MA), Aidan was inspired by the energy and talent of the local North Shore music scene and started performing locally at restaurants and jazz clubs as a teenager. After spending a couple years at New England Conservatory, he graduated with a B.A. in Performance & Representation from Tufts University. Along with Roy Nathanson of the Jazz Passengers, he co-founded the 5pm Porch Concerts Program, an educational and performance collective that emerged from their daily concerts throughout the pandemic. His other projects include Pumpkin Bread, a Boston-based acoustic band, and Lissy & the Jacks, a Brooklyn-based honky-tonk group. Aidan performs regularly with a variety of groups in New York and co-leads the Multigenerational Playing for the Light Big Band, a large ensemble that performs original music and poetry composed by Brooklyn teens.
