Many pieces feature plein air landscapes, seascapes, boats, and buildings showcasing the iconic scenery that has attracted artists to Cape Ann for generations—from Lane to Homer to Hopper. A portion of sales proceeds will support the Legion. About the Venue: The American Legion Post #3 is the oldest continuously operating American Legion post in the USA. Recently renovated, this historic 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serves as a community gathering space and is available for event rentals. Join us for the 2025 Holiday Season as we proudly present our seventh annual "Deck The Halls" holiday celebration! Travel back in time to a castle filled with lush, opulent textures inspired by the great medieval and Renaissance castles of Europe. Wander through rooms adorned with White Birch and Christmas trees, sparkling fairy lights, hydrangea-lace garlands, and elegant bows, each space transformed with its own unique holiday theme. From nature's bounty of fruits and greenery to the warm glow of candlelight, every detail creates a true feast for the senses. Along the way, you will encounter a royal guard of nutcrackers standing watch over a gingerbread house replica of the castle. Keep an eye out for playful elves and gnomes who are up to mischief - great fun for little ones! This year, the celebration will also shine with the glow of two menorahs on display, honoring the traditions of Hanukkah within the Museum's holiday splendor. For the first time, we are pleased to feature design elements created in partnership with Elaine Quinn Interiors, a boutique residential interior design firm based in Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA, bringing fresh inspiration and artistry to this year's holiday presentation. For over a century, the granite industry played a vital role in Cape Ann’s economy, providing work for men from across New England and around the world, generating profits for those fortunate enough to share in ownership of the region’s many quarries, and contributing to the unique and authentic sense of place that characterizes Cape Ann today. On a broader scale, the industry contributed significantly to building and transportation projects across our nation during a sustained period of growth and expansion. Drawing on the Cape Ann Museum’s extensive holdings of objects and archival materials related to the industry, most of which were gifted to the Cape Ann Museum by historian Barbara Erkkila (1918-2013), Hammers on Stone will explore the history of the granite trade and its impact on the community. The exhibition will examine methods of harvesting, cutting, and finishing stone, as well as how granite was transported from quarry to wharf and further afield. The exhibit will also explore the lives of those involved in quarrying and consider how the industry helped shape Cape Ann’s artistic landscape, inspiring generations of artists to the present day.

The original national PBS show Christmas with The Celts aired on over 200 PBS channels across the U.S., Canada and on the BBC in Ireland for three years. This successful TV show was the initial spark, which created a huge demand for the production bringing them into Performing Arts Centers, Theaters, and large casinos every year. The first live performance of Christmas with The Celts was in front of a sold-out audience at the original Grand Ole Opry (voted top venue by Pollstar) the world-famous Ryman Auditorium. Currently celebrating 14 years of successful national touring, Christmas with the Celts perform a wonderful combination of timeless ancient Irish Christmas Carols and lively Irish dance with modern contemporary songs but with Irish instrumentation. New Christmas hits, Celts originals and fresh Irish Dance tunes are added to the show each year so that no 2 years are the same. Always a pleasant surprise. Limited Engagement: Only Three Evenings! Join us for the 2025 Holiday Season as we proudly present our seventh annual “Deck the Halls by Candlelight” holiday celebration. Begin your evening as you come upon our holiday illumination, where holiday lights set the Castle and its iconic arches aglow. From there, embark on a fully guided Candlelight Tour through the Hammond Castle Museum. Inspired by John Hays Hammond Jr.’s preference for working through the night at the encouragement of his mentor, Alexander Graham Bell, these tours highlight the Hammonds’ lives within their home while showcasing the Museum in a new light. Guests are invited to carry the provided miniature electronic lanterns as they explore each space. Inside, the Museum is transformed with lush, opulent décor inspired by the great medieval and Renaissance castles of Europe. Each room is reimagined with its own holiday theme, from White Birch and Christmas trees to sparkling fairy lights, hydrangea-lace garlands, and elegant bows. From nature’s bounty of fruits and greenery to the warm glow of candlelight, every detail creates a feast for the senses. Along the way, you will encounter a royal guard of nutcrackers standing watch over a gingerbread house replica of the castle. Children and the young at heart will delight in spotting playful elves and gnomes tucked into corners and alcoves. This year’s celebration will also shine with the light of two menorahs, honoring the traditions of Hanukkah within the Museum's holiday splendor. For the first time, the décor includes special design elements created in partnership with Elaine Quinn Interiors of Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts, bringing fresh artistry to this much-loved tradition. Check-in begins 15 minutes before your scheduled tour time. Please allow extra travel time for seasonal traffic.

Rockport’s 80th Annual Live Christmas Pageant is around the corner! In the spirit of the holidays, the Rockport Art Association and Museum once again presents the Annual Live Christmas Pageant, a torch-lit live re-enactment of the Nativity. The pageant will be held Saturday, December 20, 2025 at 5 PM     Each year hundreds of spectators gather to watch the live re-enactment of the story of baby Jesus, Mary and Joseph, the Bethlehem inn and the stable. The pageant begins with a torch lit procession which starts at Dock Square and proceeds up Main Street to the Congregational Church. Here the story of Jesus’ birth is brought to life through a live narration. View this special excerpt from "The Making of Christmas" documentary on You Tube.   The pageant was originated by Dr. William F. Strangman and Mrs. Aldro Hibbard in 1947, as a gift from the Rockport Art Association to the village. It remains a solid holiday season fixture to this day.

The Gloucester Meetinghouse Foundation is proud to present the original silent movie ‘Peter Pan,’ a 1925 American fantasy-adventure film as part of its Tenth Anniversary Series. It will be narrated by acclaimed actress Lindsay Crouse and accompanied on the pipe organ by maestro Peter Krasinski. This is great entertainment for the whole family during the holidays! Tickets are available at the door and online (strongly recommended) with more information at: www.gloucestermeetinghouse.org. General admission is $30, students $10, under age 12 free. The historic 1806 Meetinghouse, home of the Gloucester Unitarian Universalist Church, is located on the green at the corner of Middle and Church Streets (GPS 50 Middle Street). Parking is available on the green and around the historic district. The side entrance at 10 Church Street has an elevator to the main level, if needed. For decades the silent movie ‘Peter Pan’ was thought to be lost but in the 1950’s a well preserved copy was discovered in a vault in Rochester, New York. The film is based on a play written by Sir James Barrie and was directed by Herbert Brenon in 1924 and was filmed on Santa Cruz island. The plot explores fantasy, adventure and is a playful film armed with technical ingenuity and classic source material. The presentation will be narrated by Lindsay Crouse, American actress who made her debut in the 1972 revival of Much Ado About Nothing. She has played many roles in numerous films and received a Daytime Emmy Award nomination. Lindsay is a resident of Annisquam and a well-known celebrity on Cape Ann. The film will also be accompanied by Peter Krasinski, a master of improvised silent movie accompaniment, whose exciting performances delight kids and adults alike. Krasinski will display the diverse power of the 1893 Hutchings/Fisk organ, creating music that adds mystery, intrigue and excitement to this memorable and nostalgic film. ‘Peter Pan’ is presented in collaboration with the Cape Ann Community Cinema.

For over a century, the granite industry played a vital role in Cape Ann’s economy, providing work for men from across New England and around the world, generating profits for those fortunate enough to share in ownership of the region’s many quarries, and contributing to the unique and authentic sense of place that characterizes Cape Ann today. On a broader scale, the industry contributed significantly to building and transportation projects across our nation during a sustained period of growth and expansion. Drawing on the Cape Ann Museum’s extensive holdings of objects and archival materials related to the industry, most of which were gifted to the Cape Ann Museum by historian Barbara Erkkila (1918-2013), Hammers on Stone will explore the history of the granite trade and its impact on the community. The exhibition will examine methods of harvesting, cutting, and finishing stone, as well as how granite was transported from quarry to wharf and further afield. The exhibit will also explore the lives of those involved in quarrying and consider how the industry helped shape Cape Ann’s artistic landscape, inspiring generations of artists to the present day.

Sunday, December 21st at 3:30pm, Peter Pan (1924) narrated by Lindsay Crouse with organ accompaniment by Peter Krasinski Peter Pan is a 1925 American silent fantasy-adventure film released by Paramount Pictures and is also the inspiration behind Walt Disney’s 1953 animated adaptation. For decades the film was thought to be lost but in the 1950’s a well preserved copy was discovered in a vault in Rochester, New York. The film is based on a play written by Sir James Barrie and was directed by Herbert Brenon in 1924 and was filmed on Santa Cruz island. The plot explores fantasy, adventure and is a playful film armed with technical ingenuity and classic source material. The film screening will be narrated by Lindsay Crouse, American actress who made her debut in the 1972 revival of Much Ado About Nothing. She has played many roles in a number of films and received a Daytime Emmy Award nomination. Lindsay is a well known celebrity on Cape Ann and we are delighted to have her as a narrator for the screening of Peter Pan. The film will also be accompanied by Peter Krasinski, a master of improvised silent movie accompaniment, whose exciting performances delight kids and adults alike. Krasinski will display the diverse power of the 1893 Hutchings/Fisk organ, creating music that adds mystery, intrigue and excitement to this memorable and nostalgic film. Tickets are available at the door and online with more information at: www.gloucestermeetinghouse.org. General admission is $30, students $10, under age 12 free. The Gloucester Unitarian Universalist Church is located at 50 Middle Street in Gloucester. Parking is available on the Green in front of the Meetinghouse and at other locations in the Historic District. The side entrance at 10 Church Street offers elevator access. The Gloucester Unitarian Universalist Church started its history as the first Universalist church in America in 1779, a rebellious congregation that played an important role in the quest for religious freedom as enshrined in the First Amendment to the United States Constitution. The architecturally significant building predates lighthouses on Cape Ann and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The Gloucester Meetinghouse Foundation is an independent, secular nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation dedicated to the historic building’s preservation and its use for and by the Cape Ann community.

Beginning with the stroll from the parking lot, attendees will enjoy the Holiday Illumination lights cast upon the castle’s exterior, including the iconic arches, bell tower, front Towers, and drawbridge. As you enter the Museum and continue through the small rooms leading from the Museum Shop to the Great Hall, you’ll enjoy a peek into the annual Deck The Halls holiday celebration, where in Museum is dressed for the holidays. While the rest of the Museum will be closed for tours during this time, attendees are eligible for a 20% discount on self-guided tour tickets for the day of their performance reservation. Discounted tickets can be purchased in person at the Museum shop until 2:00 PM on the day of the event with proof of the performance reservation.
