Details:The concert will feature performances by the Lawrence School Choir, LawCappella, the Jazz Band and Concert Band. This event is FREE and open to the public. Parents, family and friends of musicians are encouraged to attend. (We ask our Vocal/Choir students and families to stay for the Concert Band & Jazz Band performance as well) Attendance Requirement: As outlined in the handbook, student attendance is mandatory. If you know in advance that your child will be absent from the concert, please email the music teacher ASAP. With regards to any unexpected absence, please email the music teacher as soon as possible after the concert. A concert make-up opportunity will be held after school for any student with an excused absence. This usually involves performing all the pieces in the program, solo or in a small group, along to a live recording of the concert. In addition there will also be a written assignment for any student with an excused absence. Practice: All students are highly encouraged to practice their concert pieces at home and complete all of their recording assignments in Schoology ahead of the concert. Student Arrival Time: Concert Choir will meet in the cafeteria at 5:30 PM for rehearsal. LawCappella will meet in the auditorium at 5:00 PM for rehearsal. All Band students will need to arrive at the cafeteria at 6:45 PM. Please remind your musician to stay in the designated warm-up areas for rehearsal. Students are not allowed to go anywhere else in the building. Teachers will escort students to the performance hall. Concert Attire: Concert attire is ALL BLACK - a nice black shirt/blouse, black dress pants/long black skirt/long black dress, black socks/opaque black tights, black flat dress shoes/ballet flats. Shoulders and legs covered. All fabrics must touch. Hair - tied away from the face No phones, no perfume or cologne. Behavior, concert etiquette and phones: Students are expected to be on their very best behavior on and off the stage. This includes remaining quiet and respectful as others perform. Please discuss with your child the importance of not using a cell phone at any time before and during the concert. All phones need to be switched off during rehearsal and performance. The Vocal (Choir / LAWCapella) portion of this concert will start at 6:30 PM The Instrumental (Jazz/Concert Band) portion of this concert will start at 7:30 PM. Chamber Strings will NOT be performing at this concert.
