On October 15 at 6:30 pm, the SciFi Book Club at the Douglas Library will be discussing the first two books of The Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells: All Systems Red and Artificial Condition. These are rather short, which is why we are reading the first two.  The Murderbot Diaries is a series concerning a violent, self-hacking cyborg searching for the meaning of life. All Systems Red, the first book in the series, received the Hugo, Nebula, and Locus Awards. We’ll meet on the 4th Wednesday of each month to watch a double-header presentation of two short films.  OCTOBER'S SELECTIONS: For People in Trouble (2023 / 16 mins / English language) Lunch Ladies (2017 / 18 mins / English language) Combined, the run of films shown each month will be less than 45 minutes. After the screenings, those interested can stay for a short discussion about the selections! Feel free to bring your own light snacks/drinks!  Screenings begin at 6:30 pm - please arrive ahead of time to settle in. Due to some adult language in films, viewers under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Note: all films will be shown with English subtitles to aid in accessibility. Location within Library: We'll gather in the basement-level program room for these screenings. Reservation required.

This 2-part series will focus on how to report emergencies and what to do until the professionals arrive.  Session 1 will include the following topics: -Reporting Emergencies -Hands-only CPR -AED Awareness -Narcan Training Ages 13 and up welcome with an adult.
