The MFA Boston is one of the most extraordinary museums in the nation. This lecture includes a brief history of the institution and an overview of its most important holdings. These include precious artifacts of Ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome, treasures of the Renaissance and Baroque represented by Velasquez, El Greco and Rembrandt, important examples of Impressionism and Post Impressionism by Renoir, Degas and Van Gogh ,and a room dedicated to Monet. A stellar collection of American Art includes examples by John Singer Sargent, John Singleton Copley, Georgia O'Keeffe, and Paul Revere's silver collection. There are also new temporary exhibitions on many topics including an exciting one on Salvador Dali coming this summer.
