Bring family, bring friends… there’s nothing like a Holiday on the Cape. Alyssa Wang takes the podium for the first time as Cape Symphony's Music Director at these wonderful performances. Patrice Tiedemann, Soprano Patrice Tiedemann’s performance highlights include appearances as a soloist with Boston Lyric Opera as The Water in the East Coast premiere of The Little Prince, in Hansel & Gretel with the Rhode Island Philharmonic, as Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana with the Pioneer Valley Symphony, and as Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus with Opera Providence and Cape Cod Opera. She has performed as a Holiday Pops soloist with the Boston Pops, the Cape Symphony, and the New Bedford Symphony, and as the Mother Abbess in The Sound of Music with New Bedford Festival Theatre and Theatre by the Sea, with the Boston Civic Symphony (Verdi's Requiem), with the University Chorale of Boston College (Dubois’s Seven Last Words of Christ and Beethoven's 9th Symphony) and nationwide in classical, sacred, and theatrical repertoire. As Artistic Director of Seaglass Theater Company, Ms. Tiedemann produces creatively staged performances of classic vocal repertoire for Southern New England. Susan McDormand began oil painting about 25 years ago in a little school in Brattleboro, VT called The River Gallery School. Founded by Ric and Barbara Campman, they believe everyone is an artist! The school was given all kinds of large sheets of paper from Vermont's paper mills, hence she learned to work on somewhat fragile surfaces. The Faces you see in this exhibit were "found" in the paper; "Who is with me today?" Sometimes the Face might look like a friend. Though Susan thinks a "Face" primarily represents an emotion or an idea. Perhaps a line from a poem seems to capture the expression or the colors or the mood, especially in the background. Often the mind seems very active and/or the influences from above the body appear. This happens with the colors or swirls, etc. The larger "Places" happen because of the drama of a large sheet of paper! Susan has painted many "places" and again, they seem to appear as open, expansive, and often unknown to her. "Places" are representative of the mysterious world we live in.

Help us reduce plastic and textile pollution! Join us for our Boomerang Bag sewing bees. Boomerang bags are reusable bags made of post-consumer fabric intended to help reduce plastic and textile pollution. We distribute them at the library as an alternative to single-use plastic bags.
