We are launching a Rainbow Club (an elementary version of a Gender and Sexuality Alliance or GSA) this December to promote inclusivity at Douglas. When & WhereSchedule: Second Wednesday of every month.First Meeting: Wednesday, December 10th.Time & Location: During arrival until 9:15 AM in the Art Studio.Who Can Join?The club is open to all students in grades 5 and 6, including those who identify as LGBTQ+ and allies. Attendance is flexible and optional. Students do not need to come to every meeting. Benefits & PurposeResearch shows that the presence and involvement in GSAs improve the well-being of LGBTQ+ youth (GLSEN, 2021).Students will:Connect with peers.Discuss respect for LGBTQ+ students and topics.Work to create a positive, welcoming environment.Please discuss this opportunity with your child. AB Forward Updates are scheduled for Tuesday evenings at 7:00 pm and will last approximately 45 minutes. These sessions provide parents and caregivers with the latest information and a clear overview of any new developments. There is also dedicated time for participants to ask questions and engage directly in the conversation. Dates are as follows: January 27, February 24, March 10, March 24, April 14, May 12, and June 9.
