There's even an app so you can use it on an iPad (sorry, there's no app for Android tablets). We have 10 Chromebooks to use for the class, but you may bring your own laptop as well. If you bring your own laptop, please bring a 3-button mouse as well. In this workshop, we will learn the basics of using Tinkercad to build a model for 3D printing. Announcing - Repair and Renew Sewing Workshop by Deepika Prakash Learn to extend the life of your clothes by simple mending techniques with Deepika. Hemming and mending are valuable skills that contribute to sustainable practices. Some knowledge of using a sewing machine may be required but not always necessary. The workshop will be limited to 15 people (Adults and Teens) so we can learn effectively. Repair and Renew Sewing is a partnership between Sargent Memorial Library in Boxborough and Acton Memorial Library in Acton. We meet every month, but alternate locations between the libraries bi-monthly. During this first workshop, we will learn visible mending. In this method, the stitches are done by hand and are visible. It adds a whimsical element to the clothes and is also very trendy. Do you have any Jeans or pants which are worn out? Bring them to the workshop and learn this empowering and fun technique. This is a hand sewing workshop and no prior knowledge of sewing or a sewing machine is necessary. This is a great one to bring your teen to as well! Needles, Thread and other sewing supplies will be provided.  Funded by the Friends of the Acton Libraries. She has a wide ranging-interest in Acton’s unique history. Walking Acton’s historic civic center, you will learn about the people, places and practices that shaped the town’s history and our nation’s as well. Topics include Native American history, the role of the church, the importance of Captain Isaac Davis and the Acton Minutemen, nearby historic buildings, memorials and more. Last September the noted historian Professor Bob Allison inaugurated the Acton 250 Lectures Series with a detailed account of the Boston Tea Party of 1773 and the pivotal events that sparked the American Revolution. He returns to explain the critical changes occurring in the year 1774, when the Crown’s responses solidified the colonial opposition. All are welcome to come on May 29, at 7PM in Room 204, Acton Town Hall, 472 Main Street, Acton, MA. Prof. Allison is renowned for his expertise in American colonial history, and the political, social, and economic factors that converged in the 18th century, leading to Massachusetts’ central role in the creation of the American nation. He has taught history at Suffolk University since 1992, when he received his doctorate at Harvard. He is currently the Chair of Revolution 250, a consortium of organizations planning commemorations of the Revolution's 250th anniversary and a life-trustee of the USS Constitution Museum. This presentation will be recorded and made available on https://www.actonma.gov/250 and ActonTV shortly afterward. This is the fifth lecture in the Acton 250 Series.
