Join us at the Frostburg Library for a fascinating presentation from Dr. Amy Branam Armiento, professor of English at Frostburg State University, where she will discuss masks and masked balls in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, Leroux's The Phantom of the Opera, Dumas's The Count of Monte Cristo, Orczy's The Scarlet Pimpernel, and Poe's "The Mask of the Red Death" and "The Cask of Amontillado."This event is free, and open to the public. Feel free to don a mask for the event!Amy Branam Armiento is professor of English at Frostburg State University. She is the immediate past president and treasurer of the Poe Studies Association. She and Travis Montgomery co-edited Poe and Women: Recognition and Revision (Lehigh 2023), which won the PSA’s J. Lasley Dameron Award for an outstanding essay collection. Her most recent edited collection is titled More Than Love: The Enduring Fascination with Edgar Allan Poe (Mercer 2024), which also received the Dameron Award. In addition, she serves as the treasurer for Poe Baltimore and as an advisory board member for Poe Studies: History, Theory, Interpretation.
