The Mighty Goose RiverGary Stuckey, museum volunteer, will present the history of the Goose River (its mouth at Belfast Bay, Maine) from the first dam built to power sawmills to electrical power generation at its mouth. Throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries the river provided power for grist mills, sawmills, leatherboard factories and axe factories. Several ice businesses flourished along its length.*Event limited to 75 attendees.

But no matter the genre, good writing manages to keep the reader engaged. This is what will drive this conversation between these two Maine authors — What exactly is it that constitutes good writing? The authors will also explore where ideas come from, their writing techniques and schedules, and how one gets started — in other words, how one grapples with the beast of “writer’s block.” There will be ample time for audience contributions and questions.
