Come join the fun! In this one-day workshop we’ll be learning the basics of hand-to-hand stage combat, how to safely fall, and how to combine basic moves into an exciting performance! This workshop runs for 3 hours, from 2 PM-5 PM, with a 20-minute break. This workshop is designed for everyone ages 12 and up. Come wearing comfortable clothes and sturdy shoes or sneakers.

We are so excited to have The Curl Tapes and Sagittarius Rising join us for this month's Cliff Notes concert, next Tuesday, Feb 10! Sagittarius Rising is twin sister duo Isabelle and Phoebe Rogers from Western Maine. Together they create uplifting, original music inspired by nature and the imagination with vocal harmonies, guitar, penny whistle and percussion. They are also artists and award-winning filmmakers, blending their music soundtracks with artistic visuals. Sagittarius Rising believes that music is a powerful way to ignite positive change in the world. The Curl Tapes, an indie-folk project from Coleman Martin (Kingfield) and Blake Zuniga (Harpswell) describe themselves as "man made music, music by man". Their sound is lush and vibrant.

Community Clay Studio for kids is a NON-INSTRUCTIONAL time for kids 5 and up to explore in our clay studio. This is not a class, but a time to play and build community. Community Clay Studio on Wednesday afternoon is for kids only (we ask that parents drop off, wait outside the building, or in the hallway). Limit 10 participants. $15 per child. Work can be fired for an extra minimal charge.   CASS students can take the bus to Waterfall after school, with advanced notice. A legal guardian must use the parent portal, call, or send a notice to the school office or students will be sent home on their regular bus.

Join us for Comedy at The Commons — a monthly workshop where comics of all experience levels can learn, practice, and grow. Our focus is on clean comedy — humor that connects across generations and settings without leaning on off-color material. Whether you’re brand new or have been writing jokes for years, this is a place to experiment, discover your comedic voice, and get feedback from others on the journey.    What to Expect: - Fun exercises to spark joke ideas - Tools for developing your comedic persona - Time to share and workshop material - A community of comics cheering each other on  Cost: $5 per participant per workshop (helps cover space rental)  The Goal: These workshops are designed to prepare us for monthly clean comedy open mic nights in Belfast . PRINTMAKING OPEN STUDIO (FRIDAY) @ Waterfall Arts Fridays, 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm EST   Start a new project or finish something you have started. Don’t let your lack of studio equipment be an obstacle! Waterfall Arts has well-furnished and staffed facilities for artists of all skill levels to drop in and work independently on their own projects. In addition to providing a workspace and tools, the studios at Waterfall Arts provide a forum for sharing ideas, developing techniques, and experimentation, as well as an opportunity for building community. Artists working in all disciplines are welcome and encouraged to get involved. Drop-in rates are $20 for a 3-hour session. Maximum 5 artists during Open Studios. About the Studio Monitor: MF Morison hails from the west coast where she was primarily known as a metalsmith, apprenticing under Stieg Gusterman (Georgetown, CO) and Thomas Schlicting (Amsterdam). Using acid etch in many processes, she continued to explore this medium, resulting in attending S.F. Art Institute, studying printmaking under the tutelage of Michi Itami. While in SF, MF also worked out of U.C. Berkeley Open Studio and Fort Mason Print Department. Upon her arrival to Midcoast Maine, MF shelved printmaking for a time until she became aware of the Waterfall Arts Printmaking Studio. Since then she has been consistently enthralled and engaged with printmaking, primarily working with copper plate intaglio etching with use of embossment and chine colle. A 3-hour block of time with a studio artist present to give you a chance to start a new clay project or finish something you have started. They are held in our state-of the-art clay studio where we have all the equipment you need to drop in and work independently on your ceramics project, share ideas with other participants, develop techniques, experiment, and help us build a lively community around clay! Community Clay is great for folks who have taken one of our classes and want more time on a project or at the wheel; they are great for folks who learned wheel throwing or hand building in another space but their skills have lapsed and they need a refresher; and they are great for folks who have ceramics experience but lack the equipment to create at home. Join us and feel the power of clay! Ages 5+ are welcome but children under 14 MUST be accompanied by a participating adult.

On Tuesday, February 17 at noon, Belfast Garden Club volunteers will speak in the Abbott Room of the Belfast Free Library about planning and maintaining the public gardens that help to make Belfast the beautiful little city that it is. The program is free and open to the public. Many people comment on the beautiful downtown gardens in Belfast, but may not be aware of the large team of Belfast Garden Club volunteers who participate in designing and maintaining them. For several decades volunteers have supported the city by tending gardens in public areas to help keep Belfast beautiful all year. Currently they care for thirteen different gardens.  From the new pollinator garden at Wales Park to the Water Loo garden near the town wharf, the recently-renovated Post Office garden to the gardens around the library, BGC volunteer gardeners are busy planning, planting, pruning, watering, and updating gardens throughout the city.   This program will discuss where the gardens are located, how they are maintained and how they have evolved over time to include more native species and plants that attract pollinators and birds. Expect lots of great pictures of various gardens throughout the seasons, and a lively presentation by several of the volunteers who help to manage the gardens.
