Everyone is welcome to join the library for Coffee & Conversation, a chance to enjoy free coffee and snacks in a relaxed and casual atmosphere while getting to know one another. Conversation starters will be provided for anyone who would like to participate, or you can just chat.Coffee & Conversation is a program begun by the Dallas Public Library and adopted by libraries around the country. It is aimed at providing a space for open dialogue on topics that unite us, rather than divide us, with a focus on engaging the homeless population.

The National Digital Equity Center (NDEC) and the Bangor Public Library will co-sponsor a free workshop, "Identifying Frauds & Scams," on Tuesday, December 9 from 2:00-3:00 PM in the library's Computer Lab, taught by Nina Fearon, Digital Navigator for Penobscot County.Learn about the different types of internet fraud and scams, the do's and donât's of protecting yourself online, and what to do if you have experienced online fraud or abuse. Participants do not need their own device to participate, though you are welcome to bring one or to use one of the library's laptops.All workshops are free of charge to Maine residents, but space is limited, so registration is required to attend. To register for all this class, fill out the form on the NDEC website or call Nina for assistance at (207) 825-2540.The National Digital Equity Center provides communities at all levels the expertise needed to mobilize broadband technologies through digital inclusion, literacy efforts, education, resource planning, funding research, infrastructure leveraging and stakeholder engagement. Our members (including some who cannot read) love books for the same reasons most people do. We all enjoy being transported to different worlds where we meet interesting characters and learn new things. Taking that journey with a group of friends makes it even more delightful and fun. The Next Chapter Book Club has chapters in the US, Canada, and Europe. Bangor Public Library is the only affiliate in Maine.This group meets each Thursday at 2 PM at the library. Koda will be there from noon to 2 to be read to for 15 minutes at a time.Readers must sign up in advance for one of the 15-minute time slots.
