The author of twelve recordings and thirty books, she has performed on five continents.

Jeremy Habegger DuoFriday at 3:00 pmAt the National Park Service French Quarter Visitor Center419 Decatur St New Orleans LAJeremy "Hawkridge" Habegger is a true citizen of the world. Born in Geneva Switzerland and raised in the US as a child. At age 11 his family moved to France where he spent most of his formative years. There he studied jazz piano at the Conservatory of Nantes. He played with many bands in different genres: Rock Blues Soul Funk Fusion Free Jazz and even in an 80's cover band. By the age of 29 he decided he needed to move back to the US. Seeking a better understanding of American music he gravitated to New Orleans in 2010. Soon he joined the Soul Project NOLA a band he toured the east cost with and played locally on Frenchmen Street for 10 years. "I love being able to make a living from my passion and being part of the local New Orleans music scene!"As a professional musician he also plays gospel on the B3 Hammond organ in an African-American church every Sunday in Central City. Notably he has played with: The Temptations Review (featuring Dennis Edwards) Walter "Wolfman" Washington Mario Abney the Brassaholics Prince Tribute Band Josh Miller Blues and Jason Neville & Funky Soul.This program is free and open to the public.

Mark Braud TrioSaturday at 3:00 pmAt the National Park Service French Quarter Visitor Center419 Decatur St, New Orleans, LAMark Braud has been described as “the quintessence of the New Orleans spirit,” and the veteran trumpeter and vocalist indeed offers energetic, fresh spins on traditional New Orleans grooves. Born into a musical family (his uncle is the legendary trumpeter Wendell Brunious), Braud honed his chops in the city’s brass bands and studied at the University of New Orleans under Ellis Marsalis. He joined Harry Connick’s band in 2001, touring, recording, and performing in Connick’s Broadway show and his syndicated TV show, “Harry.” Today, Braud is best known for his association with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, which he led for eight years, and continues to perform with today. He has played with an all-star list of contemporary musical luminaries, ranging from the Marsalis family and the Treme Brass Band to the Foo Fighters, Mos’ Def, the Blind Boys of Alabama, Erykah Badu, and Tom Waits. He’s also appeared in movies and television shows such as “A Tuba to Cuba” and “NCIS: New Orleans.”This program is free and open to the public.

Wednesday April 8 1:00 – 2:00 pm  Leroy Etienne’s Creole (At the French Quarter Visitor Center-419 Decatur St) Join Creole drumming legend Leroy Etienne for a program of original compositions as well as jure’ songs all sung in Louisiana Creole. Leroy Etienne is a drummer percussionist washboard player and vocalist based in Lafayette Louisiana. His critically album released in 2018 features original compositions by Etienne composed in Louisiana Creole. Etienne held onto Louisiana Creole as his first language. He was raised up with Creole musicians like his brother Clarence “Jockey” Etienne who taught him how to play the rhythms of zydeco and R& B and came of age at a time when the language was still sung in dancehalls around the state. After touring with musicians such as Buckwheat Zydeco he joined a new band Sunpie and the Louisiana Sunspots in the late 1990s and has been the drummer ever since.

Talkin' Jazz with Fred Kasten:In Concert  with Wendell BruniousThursday at 3:00 pm At the National Park Service French Quarter Visitor Center 419 Decatur St New Orleans Talkin' Jazz with Fred Kasten: In Concert is a captivating blend of interesting talk and great music featuring top jazz artists in New Orleans hosted monthly by award-winning radio producer and interviewer Fred Kasten. This event will be a mix of interview and live performance. Fred Kasten is an independent contributing radio producer/host at WWNO. After working at WWNO for over 20 years as an on-air talent producer and program director Fred retired from full-time work in May of 2007. Fred is a native of Mobile Alabama a graduate of the University of Alabama and a long-time resident of New Orleans. In addition to his work at WWNO Fred develops independent audio projects from a home studio producing radio features commercials and podcasts. Fred also does marketing and media consulting for the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra.Wendell Brunious embodies the spirit and history of everything that is New Orleans jazz: intensely qualified musicianship deeply woven family ties the sense that music is a conversation and an unquestioned passion for the craft and the art. Brunious who has been playing jazz-based trumpet since he was a youngster was in 2023 named the first-ever musical director for the Preservation Hall Jazz Band arguably the most enduring and well-known symbol of a cultural force and art form.Like so many New Orleans musicians Brunious was born into a musical family his father John “Pickett” Brunious was a Julliard-trained trumpeter who played with well-known local bands like the Onward Brass Band Paul Barbarin and the Young Tuxedo Brass Band and arranged for world-famous stars like Billy Eckstine and Cab Calloway.Wendell Brunious began playing trumpet at age 11 and he credits his musical growth to his tutelage under sax master and bandleader Harold Dejan of the Olympia Brass Band. Brunious also studied under Danny Barker at Southern University and in the 1970s he continued to cut his chops playing with the old line brass bands and in clubs on Bourbon Street. He hustled his way into gigging at Preservation Hall in the late 70s and was named bandleader just a few years later.Over the years Brunious has performed with a top-shelf artist roster from the Dirty Dozen and Tuxedo brass bands to Harry Connick Jr. Wynton Marsalis Lionel Hampton Clark Terry and many others. He and guitarist Justin Adams initiated the jazz brunch at Commander’s Palace in the 1970s and toured worldwide.  He has recorded several of his own albums guested on many more and most recently received acclaim for his work on the soundtrack to the hit Netflix movie “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom ” starring Viola Davis and Chadwick Boseman.This program is free and open to the public.

The band takes its name from the 1930 jazz standard “On the Sunny Side of the Street” by Fats Waller and Jimmy McHugh—a fitting tribute to the joyful spirit they bring to every performance.Formed in 2019, Sunny Side consists of seasoned musicians who have been playing together in various New Orleans jazz projects since 2017. They deliver a New Orleans-style jazz experience featuring rich 3-part harmonies, a driving rhythm section, and a dynamic vocalist and dancer who brings the music to life. Their shows are immersive and high-energy—audiences are encouraged to dance, sing along, and soak in the joyful atmosphere that defines their hometown.This program is free and open to the public.
