Heavily butchered for its initial 2014 release as Shes Funny That Way, the film was thought to have vanished until it was discovered on eBay by James Kenney, a Bogdanovich fan and instructor of English at CUNY. Starring Owen Wilson, Imogen Poots, and Kathryn Hahn, Squirrels to the Nuts is a raucous screwball comedy in the vein of Whats Up, Doc?, a last hurrah for a filmmaker obsessed with human foibles and the complications that arise from them. Kenney describes Squirrels as a rich and delightful summation of Bogdanovichs style and obsessions, featuring surprising depth of characterization and expertly executed comic set pieces. Vicki Salloum a local author who has written four novels and numerous short stories will lead an introduction to fiction writing workshop on Thursday afternoons at the East Bank Regional Library 4747 W. Napoleon Metairie.=0D=0A=0D=0AThis event geared for beginning writers and not for experienced fiction writers. Participants must register on the librarys website. =0D=0A=0D=0AThe workshop is designed to instill a love of creative writing and an understanding of the techniques used in creating great fiction. It aims to strengthen the beginning writers powers of imagination and ability to think critically.=0D=0A=0D=0AThe workshop will =0D=0AIntroduce students to essential elements of storytelling as characterization plot/conflict/moral choice points of view significant detail theme scene-setting/dialog/atmosphere and style/tone/voice.=0D=0AAcquaint students with the writing philosophies and practices of not only the great masters but successful contemporary novelists.=0D=0AAssign creative work for critique by classmates.=0D=0A=0D=0AThere are 12 workshops.
