The 2nd Annual Simon House Bourbon Ball Gala will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, beginning at 6:30 PM in the Ashbrook Hotel, an historic mansion set upon a picturesque avenue on the edge of downtown Frankfort. Attendees will enjoy various tasting stations featuring a buffet-style arrangement of hors d'oeuvres paired with different select bourbons from Jim Beam. Also included in our special event is a feature guest speaker, online silent auction, live music, cash bar featuring a variety of Kentucky bourbons + other fine spirits + wine + beer, and more. This is a fun summer camp for kids held at the LIFE House For Animals shelter! Week 1 is ideal for kids 8-10 years old. Monday - Friday, June 15 - 19, 2026 8 AM - 12noon each day at the shelter (14 Fido Court, Frankfort, KY 40601) The camp is led by Wendy Ridenour with assistance from Beth Reesor, Julia King, Cheyenne Mullins, and other vetted/approved LIFE House For Animals volunteers. Kids will have the opportunity to do arts & crafts, interact with our adoptable shelter dogs and cats, meet a pet therapy dog, and more. $175 - fee per kid $125 - fee per kid if you are a volunteer OR a former adopter If you are interested in a scholarship(s), please email Volunteer Coordinator Meredith Plant at [email protected]. We cannot guarantee a scholarship and these are on a first come, first serve basis.

Come out to the LIFE House For Animals (14 Fido Ct, Frankfort, KY 40601) on Wednesday, June 17th, @ 6 PM ET to check out a dog for the evening. We welcome adults, kids (with adult supervision), potential adopters - anyone - to come out to get some exercise for yourself and our canine guests. You can take a dog out for a walk around our facility, or you can take a dog out to the park, to Starbucks for a pup cup, to Feeders Supply, downtown Frankfort - the choice is yours! We ask that you bring the dog back by 7:30 PM ET. We will harness the dog for you and give you a bag of treats, poop bags, water bowl and water bottle, and contact info for LIFE House For Animals. No pre-registration is necessary - just show up! First come, first serve.

June Dates: - 6/4, 6/11, 6/18, 6/25 July Dates: - 7/2, 7/9, 7/16, 7/23, 7/30 Volunteers will lead kids in a craft activity together for the first hour and then kids will break up to read to dogs (and cats) in their kennels. This gives kids a chance to practice their reading skills with a non-judgmental, friendly companion. Plus it helps our dogs and cats socialize to get them ready for adoption! Kids can bring their own books or we will have a small selection to choose from. - The event is ideal for kids 7-11 but this isn't a strict age range. - All kids must have an adult accompany them and stay for the program. - The event is FREE. - No RSVP is required - just show up! ** Sponsored By: First Federal Savings Bank **
