Austin Jacobs is the director.  Will plan on arriving around 9:30am for set-up.  Concert will start at 10:00am in the gym.  All classes are welcome, including HSAP.  Should last aproximately 20-30 minutes in total.Updated Details from 4.16.2026 Email: Below are the performance times that we have recorded for each school. Please review these to ensure that they are correct. Each performance will be about 20 minutes long, so the schedule gets a bit tight between Lucas and Hoover. Hopefully we can do our best to stay on schedule, but it is helpful to us if you are able to be a tad flexible on start times a few minutes in either direction as we will need to allow for travel to each building and set up time.  Shimek - 10:00 a.m. Lucas - 12:45 p.m. Hoover - 1:30 p.m.Lemme - 2:30 p.m.  Other Details: * Performance length ? 20 minutes * Number of chairs needed: 20 * Target grades: All grades are welcome and we would like to perform for as many as possible, but the ideal grades to perform for would be 3rd-5th grade if space limitations are a concern.  We will bring our own stands, we will simply need chairs provided. Let me know if you have any questions--we greatly look forward to visiting in a few short weeks!All the best,--Austin JacobsDirector of Orchestras - Southeast Middle SchoolIowa City Community School District (319)-688-1070 Ext. 7288 (Office) 7282 (Classroom)

Fire and tornado drills are each conducted regularly during the academic school year with  a minimum of two of each type before December 31  and t wo of each type after January 1 . Employees will participate in emergency drills. Licensed employees are responsible for instructing the proper techniques to be followed in the drill. Drills should be conducted at unexpected and varied times. Maintain records at the school site of date/time of drill, number of participants and an evaluation of the drill.

It is that time of year to begin preparing for the Spring Tours for 6th graders at South East. This is an exciting opportunity for both the participating students and the South East faculty and staff. These tours will allow students to experience South East firsthand through a guided walking tour and a panel discussion led by experienced 6th graders from their respective schools. Each elementary school will be responsible for arranging transportation to Southeast for this event.The event is expected to last approximately 60 minutes. Please arrive at Southeast at 9:20 as our Tours will begin at 9:25 AM on the designated dates, with all groups meeting out front of the main entrance to the building where we will do an introduction and have our SEMS pep band performing. Then students will be introduced to our faculty tour guides, broken into their tour groups and begin the tour. To facilitate interactions among students from different schools,  each student should be assigned a number (1-10) , ensuring they are evenly dispersed during presentations and tours.Given the increasing number of scheduling conflicts in the spring, I have designated specific dates for the tours to help balance group sizes and avoid conflicts with each school's visit to  School of the Wild  and the Elementary Track events and have gotten verification on these dates from each school. As a result, we have expanded the schedule to four dates, and the tours will now take place over two weeks rather than within a single week, which has proven challenging in past years. Below you will find the assigned dates by schools. Please share this information with your 6th-grade teachers, as I may have inadvertently omitted someone from this message. I appreciate your assistance and support!
