Do your summer flowering bulbs seem crowded and blooming less? What to do? “Recycle them” Bring your extra bulbs to the Library's Reading GardenOpen to Everyone!!! Including people who would like some new bulbs, even if you don’t have any to share The average 1st frost date for New Carlisle is usually between Oct.11 - 20. Spring blooming bulbs and perennials should be planted 6 - 8 weeks prior to the 1st frostmeaning August 30 - September 8 is the ideal time to plant, but bulbs can be dug after their foliage has died back and stored in a cool, dry place until planting time. Examples are tulips, narcissus, hyacinths, lilies of all kinds, iris, etc. Tender spring bulbs such as gladioli, cannas, callas, etc. also need to be dug in the fall for spring planting. If you have any of the above to share, please bring them to the library in a labeled box and take a sampling of what others have to share. Paper, not plastic, bags are suggested for transporting your treasures home.

The good news is YOU can make a huge difference by adapting just a few new habits and practices.In this session, Mrs. Dornberg will share best shopping practices, sustainable options for food storage, the truth behind expiration dates, and tips for meal planning. She will also demonstrate a few creative cooking techniques you can easily do at home.You will walk away with simple actionable steps and resources to get the most out of the food you buy and to create delicious, nutritious meals while reducing waste and saving money. Cheryl Dornberg is the founder, CEO & operator of Mrs. Dornberg’s Culinary Experience in Highland, IN. She is a certified Culinary Nutrition Expert (CNE), healthy cooking resource, and just eat real food advocate. She helps health-conscious individuals who want to embrace the healing power of food, but are overwhelmed and confused on what to do, discover a simple, nutritious way of cooking and eating that allows them to manage & prevent health issues naturally and deliciously.
