Located on 2nd Floor.Since 1776, when the United States declared independence from Great Britain, the idea of freedom and our understanding of its implications have changed dramatically.Drawing on materials from the Gilder Lehrman Collection, this exhibition traces the evolving concept of freedom from the founding era to the election of Barack Obama. Among the highlights are a rare 1776 printing of the Declaration of Independence, a printed draft and the official copy of the US Constitution, Lincoln’s handwritten notes for speeches, and letters by leading figures such as Frederick Douglass, Susan B. Anthony, Martin Luther King Jr., and more.

It could be yours!A parent or guardian is required for building a sailboat.---------------------------------------------------------------RULES:Racers will be split into separate groups based on grade going in to for 2026-2027 school year.- Grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8Boats are required to be made on-site. No premade boats allowed.Recycled materials will be provided by the Moline Public Library, however recycled materials can also be brought from home to build with.For racers' safety, glass is not allowed.While we will be outdoors and will be racing boats on water, please remember to wear clothes over swimsuits and shoes at the library.
