Make tax-deductible donations to the ECCI Centennial Celebration NFP Second Century Fund in support of the construction of the York Community High School Memorial To The Fallen in honor of the 114 alumni who gave their lives in service to our country dating back to World War II. A fundraising goal of $30,000 has been set to build a memorial at the site of the current auditorium hallway plaque donated by York's Class of 1985. Major Krause was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for heroism as a flight engineer on a B-29 heavy bomber during a December 17, 9144, raid over Tokyo when his airplane was rammed by three Japanese fighters and he remained on board to stabilize the stricken aircraft while his fellow crew members parachuted out.  His bomber shot down nine of the more than 30 enemy fighters attacking the American squadron.

This Giving Tuesday (and through January 2026) you can join Chamber members and the public in making a tax-deductible donation to the ECCI Centennial Celebration NFP to support the Civic Hall of Fame Public Memorial Fund, Second Century Fund and/or Ralph P. Pechanio Student Internship Endowment Fund at Elmhurst University. The ECCI Centennial Celebration NFP was created as part of the Elmhurst Chamber's 100th Anniversary Year activities in 2018 with an initial goal of raising $250,000 across three initiatives. At an investment of nearly $20,000, the interactive touch-screen ECCI Civic Hall of Fame Public Memorial is on display in the lobby at Community Bank of Elmhurst's downtown Elmhurst location.  Click HERE to view the Civic HOF website.  To date, fundraising for the public memorial has exceeded its $50,000 goal. The Second Century Fund has already allowed our Chamber to educate Elmhurst businesses and our community at large on a variety of socio-economic activities.  In 2025, the Second Century Fund collected some $30,000 for the York Community High School's Memorial To The Fallen project to honor 114 alumni who gave their lives in service to our country dating back to World War II and sponsored food at the 35th annual New Teacher's Luncheon.  In 2024, the second century fund contributed to the 9/11 Memorial.  To date, fundraising for the Second Century Fund has exceeded its $50,000 goal. Thanks to an initial donation of $100,000 and subsequent annual gifts from Ralph Pechanio, the long-time appointed Treasurer of the ECCI Board of Directors, the Student Internship Endowment Fund at Elmhurst University has exceeded its $150,000 goal by more than double--assuring that the Elmhurst Chamber will have the funds needed to offer paid internship to EU students.  Gifts to the Endowment Fund also can be made directly to Elmhurst University.

Individuals with Parkinson’s disease, their families, and their caregivers are encouraged to attend.  The purpose of the meetings is to provide medical information and to share experiences. The Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution with an all-American program on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at 3:00 PM at the Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church. The performance will include Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring as well as works by contemporary American classical composers Eric Ewazen, Jessie Montgomery, and James Stephenson.
