The mission of the Tradewind Cycling Team is to promote competitive bicycle racing in the State of Hawaii. We acknowledge that sportsmanship, teamwork, commitment, dedication and support for one another are the hallmarks of a successful cycling team. "We ride every Saturday and Sunday unless there is a conflicting event. On Saturday we rotate between Town/Leeward/Windward start points & routes. Sunday is the Sunday Spin from Kapiolani to Waimanalo. Who can ride? Our rides are open to the public, so anyone can come as long as they follow our ride rules, are responsible for their own navigation and mechanicals. Since we are a racing team, the rides are orientated to advanced riders who either race or have in interest in racing. This is a recreational ride that started for women over 50, but everyone is welcome! That means men, and women of all ages. Rides are normally at a moderate 12-16 mph pace, but are all no drop rides. RHL SUNDAY RIDES The Red Hot Ladies or Team RHL has 3 groups riding on Sunday mornings now.   Cruisers I - Lead by Pattie Dunn, [email protected].  They meet up at 8:30 & ride out at 9:00.  Shorter and slower rides - great for beginners or people returning to riding after being off the bike for years.  Good coaching and support. Cruisers II - Lead by Dorian Cuccia and Lynne Nakama, [email protected] & [email protected].  They ride out at 8:30am.  Smaller group that stays together, interesting new routes each week, and coaching on finer points of cycling - 15-25 miles. Roving Riders - Lead by Patricia Johnson and others:  Kristen Dudley, Mike Lau; Chip Cox, [email protected].  Meet up at 7:15 and ride out at 7:30.  Different island-wide locations each week, and splits into ability groups: Fast, medium and slower (no one left behind) - 20-30 miles.  Training rides for both the HMC & HCR are conducted in this group.   There is actually a 4th group, but it is by invitation only - the RHL âSleep-In Beautiesâ.    People who want to know about our rides need to contact Patricia to be added to the RHL ListServ. The rides are posted each week, usually Thursday & Friday. We are a riding group with the Hawaii Bicycling League (HBL).  We request that all riders be members of HBL, and have signed the waiver on the website, hbl.org. All our ride leaders are volunteers and several have completed the League Cycling Instructors training (LCI) - a national designation from the League of American Cyclists. The Red Hot Ladies was created in July, 2007 by Pattie Dunn & Patricia Johnson, so that makes us 16 years old now.  Dottie Sunio handles our merchandise and we have our kits with Champion Team Apparel - they run small.  [email protected] Hope this helps explain some of âwho we areâ. General route: Tour of Kahala neighborhoods along outbound Kalanianaole Highway to Hawaii Kai to tackle a few hills and a stop at Starbucks at Koko Head Marina. Return along Kalanianaole Highway through inbound Kalanianaole Highway neighborhoods to start.  Pace / level: Beginner to Intermediate Start location:  Kahala Recreation Center at the Kahala Community Park next to Kahala Elementary School (MEET HERE) Start time: 8:30 AM Ride Description: Start the week off right with a bike ride!
