The Hawai‘i State LGBTQ+ Commission was established by the Hawai‘i State Legislature to improve the State’s interface with members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, plus community identify the short-and long-range needs of its members and ensure that there is an effective means of researching, planning, and advocating for the equity of this population in all aspects of state government. (HRS 369) Mission Statement for the Hawaiʻi State Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer Plus Commission:The Hawaiʻi State LGBTQ+ Commission is dedicated to advancing equity, inclusion, and opportunity for the Māhū, LGBTQIA+/MVPFAFF+ community, connecting their voices and the Hawaiʻi State government. We serve as a vehicle for collaboration, advocacy, and education, promoting public awareness and policy change to ensure equal rights. Through civic engagement and partnerships at all levels, we strive to create a more just and inclusive Hawaiʻi for all. The Rainbow Chorus of Honolulu invites singers of all backgrounds and experience levels to raise their voices with us as we prepare for our upcoming concert, Stronger Together, on Father’s Day, June 21, 2026. We rehearse every Monday evening from 7:00–9:00 pm (except holidays) at Unity Church of Hawai‘i, and we are actively seeking new voices to join our chorus. This concert is being created as a powerful act of community and compassion. Stronger Together is our collective opportunity to stand in harmony with all people who are being pushed down, pushed out, stepped on, or pushed aside. Through music, we affirm that our voices matter—and that together, they are stronger. We sing to let those in power know that we stand together, lifting up our shared humanity, our diverse communities, and our unwavering commitment to love, dignity, and justice for all.
