Saturdays at 10 a.m.: Drop by the Fuqua Conservatory lobby to watch the frogs jump into action when presented with their meals. An amphibian specialist will share fun facts and answer questions about these captivating creatures. Public frog feedings allow visitors to observe one of the most interesting aspects of these amphibians – their feeding behaviors. Most frogs have long sticky tongues that shoot out at prey. Some, like Poison frogs, are able to do this with such incredible speed and accuracy that all visitors notice are flies disappearing. Others, like the fringed leaf frog, are dramatic feeders that stuff the crickets into their mouths with their hands.

The Garden works to advance the science of conservation through research collaborations and native species recovery programs. The Garden’s plant conservation collections and fieldwork focus on propagation of under-represented endangered plant groups and the restoration and management of their habitats. Key to the success of this conservation program is the high level of botanical and horticultural expertise of its staff. The Garden has more than 30 years of experience in the conservation and recovery of rare and threatened plant species through research, propagation, collaborative restoration and habitat management. Tanner Biggers is the Conservation Safeguarding Nursery Manager at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, Gainesville. Come listen and learn about the important work being done at the Garden and around the world!
