Free t-shirt and house tour to visitors who volunteer in a trail cleanup, fence restoration, or stick hauling. National Public Lands Day, celebrated in GA as YSPD is a celebration of working together for a common goal, an opportunity to use America’s public lands for the betterment of yourself and others. Bring the family and a friend!Arrive when you can and stay as long as you can. Projects will be outdoors and weather permitting, staff will provide gloves, tools, and water as needed, but visitors can bring their own gloves if desired. Wear closed-toed shoes and dress for the weather.Add Main

Take part in Archaeology themed activities at the Vann House. Learn about artifacts in our dig-boxes, learn more about ancient pottery by creating your own, see real stone tools being crafted (knapped) see the tools of an archaeologist from KSU, see actual artifacts from the Vann House excavations, talk to archaeologists, and more.Families can discover "artifacts" in our dig-boxes. Learn about ancient pottery by crafting your own pottery. See tools used by archaeologists, presented by Kennesaw State University's Student Anthropology Club. Speak with state archaeologists and see actual artifacts and maps from the Vann House excavations. Piece together broken artifacts.All activities are included in admission, $7 per person. Activities are outdoors and weather permitting. There is no rain date. Annual passes will not be accepted for this event. There are not currently any professional archaeology digs taking place at the Vann House, and no site digging will take place.Add Main

Candlelight Tours

When the Moravians became the first to open a school for Cherokee children in 1801, they enjoyed decorating their buildings and grounds with fresh cut greenery, candles, and written scripture banners. We can speculate that their "love feasts" and "singstundes" were the ......More

When the Moravians became the first to open a school for Cherokee children in 1801, they enjoyed decorating their buildings and grounds with fresh cut greenery, candles, and written scripture banners. We can speculate that their "love feasts" and "singstundes" were the first Christmas celebrations on the Cherokee Nation. To celebrate, guests can enjoy a self-guided tour through our historic Cherokee Home with live music and hundreds of candles to light your path. Also, tour the Cherokee Farmstead and enjoy warm apple cider and Moravian cookies in our two-story Vann Kitchen Exhibit. Friends of the Vann House volunteers are ready to answer your questions and offer you some Christmas joy.This event is held rain or shine, please dress for the weather. Please arrive by 8p.m. to fully tour the house and grounds. Candles will be extinguished at 9p.m.On these days (Dec 11 & 12, 2026), tours of the house will only be held at 10am, 11am, and 12pm in preparation for the evening event. Admission is $8 per person, children 5 and under are free. Admission is paid at the door, no reservations necessary. If you cannot make the event, the decorations will be in place through Christmas and can be seen on a guided tour during regular hours. Regular December hours are Thursday-Saturday, 9-5, with tours on the hour, except on the 11th and 12th of December, 2026Add Main
