Life Explorers Speaker Series: Powerful Pollinators â Incorporating Bees in Edible and Native Plant SystemsPollinators are critical for food production, with some research saying a pollinator can be thanked for one of every three bites of food we eat. Therefore, creating a Florida-Friendly and environmentally conscious landscapes must focus on bringing in pollinators. Can your yard have it all? Fruit bearing specimen, native plants and an abundance of pollinators? We believe so, which is why Froot Farms has incorporated an apiary on their land, allowing them to increase pollination for fruit bearing plants, create numerous environmental benefits on their property and diversify revenue streams. Andrew is a serial-entrepreneur, farmer and edible plant installer in Central Florida. He began his agricultural journey growing his familyâs palm tree business, Birkettâs Tree Farm, with his uncle Greg, before the pair started Froot Farms-an edible plant nursery and food forest installation firm that also has a composting facility and small apiary. Grow, Blend, Heal: Creating Your Restorative Tea Garden Start planning your spring garden to grow tea! This class explores cultivating a home garden specifically designed for therapeutic and restorative tea. Participants will learn how to grow, harvest, and prepare a variety of herbs and plants known for their healing properties. There will be discussion on the therapeutic benefits of each plant, how to cultivate each plant in your home garden, and how to prepare tea in a variety of ways. Tea tasting of several different herbs will be provided. We will also experiment with tea blending. Whether you are a seasoned gardener or a beginner and looking to increase your wellness at home, this class will guide you in using nature to support health and wellness. During her travel nursing experiences, she worked with oncology and chronic illness populations in a variety of settings. Desiring more education on holistic health practices, she pursued further professional education in advanced holistic nursing and herbalism. She has a warm, personal, and grounded approach to helping people understand their unique wellness goals and the necessity for individualized integrative health practices. Today, Lauren teaches holistic health and herbal education through her consulting business, Honest Thriving creating experiences that provide relaxation, clarity, and self-awareness to help people make informed decisions that align best with their individual wellness.
