It’s that time of year again when our snowbirds return, and we get to reconnect with friends we’ve missed over the summer! Join us for an afternoon of food, laughter, and great company in our beautiful outdoor pavilion — which seats up to 75 people and offers plentiful parking. CCAS Will Provide the Main Course — Just Bring a Dish to Share! We’ll take care of the main course! Please bring one of your favorite side dishes, salads, or desserts to share. Whether it’s a family recipe, something new you’ve tried, or a simple store favorite, everything is welcome. This potluck-style lunch always brings out a delicious variety of foods — no need to cook for a crowd, just bring enough for a few and we’ll have more than enough for everyone!                        RSVP to gailburnett13 @gmail.com no later than 12/09!!!!   Tuesday 1/6 will be our travel day to St. Marks. We will plan to meet at the visitor's center at St Mark's at noon and bird out to the light house from there. Some folks will stay over at the will be staying at Wakulla Springs Lodge.  There are other hotels such as Wildwood in Crawfordsville. Established in 1931, St. Marks is one of the oldest refuges in the National Wildlife Refuge System. Its 68,000 acres provides wintering habitat for migratory birds. Uplands forests, forested swamps, fresh & brackish water marshes and a pristine salt water estuary ecosystem make it a favorite for birders.Some of the unusual birds we hope to see include: Mallard, Green-winged Teal, Canvasback, Redhead, Bufflehead, Ruddy Duck, Horned Grebe, Virginia Rail, Sora,  White-breasted Nuthatch, Seaside Sparrow, and Nelson's Sharp-tailed SparrowRSVP to [email protected]

CCASwill host a field trip to Orlando Wetlands Park  Educational Pavilion. Go to park entrance at Wheeler Rd, Christmas, Fl.  Meet at 1:00 pm to use restrooms; tram will leave promptly at 1:30 and will go for about 2 hours. We will see many areas of the park- we may see......More

CCASwill host a field trip to Orlando Wetlands Park  Educational Pavilion. Go to park entrance at Wheeler Rd, Christmas, Fl.  Meet at 1:00 pm to use restrooms; tram will leave promptly at 1:30 and will go for about 2 hours. We will see many areas of the park- we may see the Eagle nest and possibly the Vermillion Flycatcher that has been a continuing bird here recently. You will want to spend a few hours at this beautiful park, so we recommend bringing a lunch. There are no restaurants nearby. Many of us meet at Dixie Crossroads for dinner and there are several hotels at Rt 50 and I-95 for overnighting to do Merritt Island the next day. We will stay overnight at area motels and continue to Merritt Island on Friday January 16th, 2026. Meet at 8:30 a.m.  Take Rt 406-Max Brewer Pkwy to Sandpoint Park, 2nd entrance on north side of causeway. It is the last left turn IMMEDIATELY BEFORE the bridge. We will drive the 7 mi Blackpoint Drive and other spots such as Pumphouse Rd and W Gator; then will  proceed to Canaveral Nat'l Seashore. We should see the Fl Scrub Jay, hopefully some N Gannets diving, and a variety of shorebirds. January is prime time for ducks so we will hope for a good variety. Hopefully lots of White Pelicans; anything is possible. Fee for MINWR is $10 per carload; senior pass acceptable for driver and passengers. Fee for Seashore- $25 per car; senior pass acceptable- person with pass must also show ID. RSVP Required to [email protected] to reserve seats on the Tram.
