Participants will explore a single simple object, first breaking its tones into three value areas, then refining to five distinct value levels. Using compressed and soft charcoal, chalk, and erasers, attendees will experiment with contrast, edge control, and textural effects, learning how to model form convincingly while maintaining expressive mark-making. The workshop emphasizes observation, structure, and material exploration over perfection! All levels welcome. Participants will: â˘ Understand the role of value in creating depth and form â˘ Simplify complex objects into three-value and five-value tonal studies â˘ Experiment with compressed and soft charcoal and chalk for varied textures â˘ Learn blending, lifting, and erasing techniques to manipulate values â˘ Develop confidence in handling dry media for both subtle and dramatic effects About the Instructor: Juan Sebastian Restrepo is a visual artist based in Florida. He received an MFA in Painting from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and a BFA in Painting from Pratt Institute. Working across drawing, painting, and video, his practice explores perception, memory, attention, and the emotional logic of everyday life, often blending abstraction and figuration through playful, diaristic imagery. Restrepo has presented solo exhibitions in Miami, including projects at the Art and Culture Center/Hollywood and [NAME] Publications, and has participated in group exhibitions across the United States and internationally, including in London. His work has been exhibited at venues such as the Coral Springs Museum of Art, 1310 Gallery, and Arts on Douglas, and has been featured in publications including Cultured Magazine, saw palm, Stonecoast Review, and Inlandia Journal. No prior experience is needed, just bring your curiosity and willingness to play with these inks. By the end, youâll leave with a beautiful, frame-worthy masterpiece that blooms with your own artistry. All levels welcome and supplies provided. What is Alcohol Ink? Alcohol ink is a fluid art. The inks are dye-based and extremely vibrant due to heavy pigmentation. The inks glide freely on non-porous surfaces and are easily manipulated with various techniques such as blowing, stamping or brushing. Another unique quality of alcohol ink is that the dried ink can be ârevivedâ when coming into contact with fresh ink or blending solution, allowing for further process of the design. Alcohol ink is a fun and unique medium, allowing for creative freedom. About the teaching artist: Debra L. Color not only conveys feelings and emotions, but also passes inconspicuous messages to the viewer. Color Theory Basics is an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of color and color mixing with acrylic paint in a 2-Day workshop. The extended time gives more opportunity to practice as well. The Color Theory Basics Workshop is designed for the amateur artist who needs to solidify the basic, fundamental elements and structures of color knowledge. In order to gain this knowledge, the attendee will apply the information given in class through small projects completed during class hours. The goal is to enhance the students abilities on how to mix colors for the projects. This will help the students achieve a strong visual balance and convey meaningful messages to the viewers of their works. The workshop will be divided in to 3 small projects that will enhance the knowledge of the participants. This will be an opportunity to practice and get familiar with the blending of colors which will be taught in the 2-Day Color Theory workshop. Instructor Information: Beverly Manning has been hosting workshops with Arts Warehouse since 2019, such as Intro to Creativity and Color Theory. Beverly was born in New York City and raised in Ecuador. She graduated from Western Connecticut State University with a BA degree in Art with a concentration in Graphic Design and Photography. In 1996 she moved to Florida where she worked as a Graphic Designer. Best known for her colorful abstract paintings, Manning acquired her technical skills by working with renowned painters from the South Florida area. She uses a wide range of mediums such as acrylics, newspaper, oil pastels and crayons, even her interior house paints. In other words, any and everything that can help to create and obtain vibrant paintings. Inspiration comes in many different forms, such as photos, flowers, and anything that touches her creativity. The main objective is to communicate feelings through colors and flowing lines that suggest the freedom of movement. Manning uses an array of techniques which range from Tapping and Meditation to art exercises in order to tune into her feelings. The techniques open up her creativity and prevents judgement towards her own creations. In March of 2018, Manning exhibited at the office of The Octopi Group in Delray Beach, where 27 paintings in a collection where presented. She also has exhibited at Style de Vie and Cornell Museum in Delray Beach.

Thereâs no pressure to create a âfinishedâ piece â the goal is to experience the act of drawing as mindfulness and self-care. This session will introduce drawing as a meditative and grounding practice rather than a technical skill. Emphasis is placed on process over product, helping students reconnect with creativity in a gentle, accessible way. About the Instructor: Juan Sebastian Restrepo is a visual artist based in Florida. He received an MFA in Painting from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and a BFA in Painting from Pratt Institute. Working across drawing, painting, and video, his practice explores perception, memory, attention, and the emotional logic of everyday life, often blending abstraction and figuration through playful, diaristic imagery. Restrepo has presented solo exhibitions in Miami, including projects at the Art and Culture Center/Hollywood and [NAME] Publications, and has participated in group exhibitions across the United States and internationally, including in London. His work has been exhibited at venues such as the Coral Springs Museum of Art, 1310 Gallery, and Arts on Douglas, and has been featured in publications including Cultured Magazine, saw palm, Stonecoast Review, and Inlandia Journal. Join Artist Michele Del Campo for an engaging 3-week linocut workshop designed to enhance your skills and creativity! Each session lasts 3 hours and is open to all skill levels, encouraging individual expression alongside technical growth. Wednesday, June 3| 2pm â 5pmWednesday, June 10 | 2pm â 5pmWednesday, June 17 | 2pm â 5pmWhat to expect: Day 1: Introduction and Basics â Show examples of linocuts by the masters. Isolated in the countryside, he would spend his time drawing and cycling long distances, when not at school. When he was 18 his family moved to Milan, and after beginning to study Fine Arts, disappointed with the learning, at the age of 20 he began a pilgrimage which led him to live in many places around the world. After studying Illustration in Falmouth (England) and then Dundee (Scotland) he went to Madrid (Spain) where he resumed his studies in Fine Arts and at the same time he began exhibiting in art galleries. In 2006 he won the most prestigeous painting prize in Spain, the âPremio BMWâ, and in 2007 he finished his Master of Fine Arts. In 2008 he moved to London, where he had several solo exhibitions, and in 2016 to Glasgow (Scotland). In this city, where there is hardly any of the sun that he grew up with, and while he was preparing solo exhibitions for international galleries in Lima (PerĂş), Madrid (Spain) or San Francisco (USA), he decided there was no point in struggling to find a good artist studio and commit to spending years in the same place. He stopped accumulating objects, got rid of possessions and began to travel and paint wherever he was, and then take the rolled-up canvases to the galleries with which he collaborated. In 2017 he began to travel with two suitcases and a tube for the canvases, where he captured the inspiration found in each place. In 2023 Del Campo moved to Miami. Del Campo has had solo shows in Madrid, Valencia, Barcelona, London, Milan, Lugano, Lima, San Francisco and Dallas, and has participated in group shows and art fairs in Europe, Asia, the United States and Latin America. In his art, locations remain unidentifiable, as he frequently blends aspects from one city with those of another. Instead, his primary emphasis lies on individuals, their narratives, connections, and emotions, which surpass geographical boundaries and manifest in a more extensive human encounter. He paints people his friends and family, and the people he meets in his travels, and fondly cultivates his circle without borders. His paintings, far from simply seeking to capture a resemblance with his sitters or the reality as it is, strive to construct a narrative. He gets inspiration from the stories of his sitters, to speak about the uprooting, the zest for life, the solitude and the awareness of the ephemeral. In his recent paintings, heâs transcending realism, crafting compositions that embody fragments of a reality formed by diverse moments and places.
