Queenie and Burrs are a dysfunctional couple of vaudeville performers whose relationship teeters on the brink. In an attempt to salvage their passion, they throw a lavish, anything-goes party in their Manhattan apartment. The parade of colorful and unpredictable guests includes a provocative stranger who catches Queenie’s eye and ignites Burrs’ jealousy. What begins as a night of carefree indulgence turns into a tense and dangerous game where loyalties are tested, secrets come to light, and relationships spiral out of control. This darkly brilliant show offers a captivating look at the dangers of excess, love, and betrayal, set to a sensational jazz score. West Hartford Art League is pleased to present Third Nature, an exhibition by artist Andrés Montiel, on view August 2 through August 30, 2026 in the Clubhouse Gallery. This special summer pop-up exhibit features Montiel’s vibrant recent work. In an age of instant connection, endless convenience, and constant stimulation, we are surrounded by more comfort and possibility than ever before—yet many of us feel increasingly disconnected from ourselves and the world around us. This exhibition invites viewers to pause and reconnect with wonder, reflection, and imagination. Through painting, Montiel explores the space between the visible and the unseen, creating works that act as gateways beyond ordinary experience and into deeper contemplation. Rooted in the belief that art can bridge the material and the infinite, these paintings encourage audiences to move beyond passive observation and engage in a personal journey of discovery. Whether inspired by nature, memory, or intuition, each work offers an opportunity to awaken the senses and rediscover what it means to truly experience life. The public is invited to attend the opening reception on Saturday, August 2, from 2–4 pm in the Clubhouse Gallery at 37 Buena Vista Road, West Hartford. This reception is free to the general public. Gallery hours are Thursday through Sunday, 1 – 4 pm.

The Economic Development Committee plays a central role in supporting growth, investment, and innovation throughout West Hartford. Meeting monthly, the committee serves as a conduit between the Chamber, town officials, and local businesses, keeping members informed about key policy updates, new developments, and infrastructure projects. Its efforts culminate in the Annual Economic Development Update, offering stakeholders a clear view of the town’s economic trajectory. By identifying challenges and creating solutions, the committee drives prosperity and long-term success across the business community. The Chamber has a process for businesses to seek support for a particular issue they may be facing.  On an individual basis, the committee invites businesses to submit an application for support. Concerns related to zoning,  policy or regulation are considered on a case-by-case basis. Click to view the application. Please join us for this hike with TRLC volunteer Dave Mogul through beautiful forested woods in this Granby Land Trust property. The hike is about 3–3.5 miles, and it’s expected to take 2.5–3.5 hours, depending on our group’s pace. The difficulty level is between beginner and intermediate, with a few stretches of elevation gain and some terrain that’s rocky and/or has multiple roots on the trail. There are also a few small streams to ford, with bridges over the larger ones. Hiking poles will be helpful for those needing help navigating uneven terrain. We’ll depart at 9:00 a.m. from the parking area. There are a limited number of spaces in that lot, but ample room on the shoulders of the road. Please be aware that it’s likely that mosquitos and other insects will be joining us on the hike, so you may want to bring bug spray. With Enders Falls only about a 5-min drive from the parking lot, you may be interested in a side trip there after our hike, with access to various waterfalls not far from their parking area. Each year, Ball 4 a Cure helps dozens of financially-burdened families who face a cancer diagnosis with everything from rent payments, mortgages, medical equipment, groceries, gas payments, and so much more.
