Please join us for this Valentine’s Day hike with TRLC volunteer Dave Mogul at Northwest Park. Although the route may vary due to trail conditions, the planned hike is a circular one of about 3 miles that will take 2-3 hours depending on our group’s pace. This is expected to be an easy hike with a limited number of inclines and areas with uneven footing. Since there’s potential for snow and/or ice on the trail, please wear sturdy shoes or boots that have good traction, and bring poles if you like to use them.  In recognition of Valentine’s Day (and to celebrate our mutual love of the outdoors!), we will enjoy donuts and hot cocoa after the hike.  Alternate date of February 21 if we need to reschedule.

The 4th Annual Black History Month Breakfast will feature a meaningful and engaging conversation with local community leaders whose stories and service have helped shape West Hartford. This year’s program is especially significant as it highlights leaders commemorated on the “MLK39 Racial Equity Mural” at the Noah Webster Library, a powerful symbol of the community’s ongoing commitment to equity, inclusion, and progress. Panelists include State Representative Tammy Exum and former Town Council member Judy Casperson, both of whom are featured on the mural, alongside Carol Blanks, former Town Council and Board of Education member, whose late mother, Gertrude Blanks, is also honored on the mural for her lasting impact on the community. They will be joined by Matt Conway, Executive Director of Rise Up Group, who designed and created the mural and will share insight into its vision, meaning, and impact. Together, the panelists will offer personal stories, reflections, and lived experiences that illuminate West Hartford’s history and the ongoing work of advancing understanding and opportunity.   The conversation will be moderated by Chris Clarke, West Hartford Chamber Chairman of the Board and Chairman and Co-Founder of the Chamber’s Minority Business Network, who will guide a thoughtful dialogue honoring the past, celebrating the present, and looking ahead to the enduring influence of Black history and culture in our community. photo credit: Ronni Newton, We-Ha.com

The Economic Development Committee plays a central role in supporting growth, investment, and innovation throughout West Hartford. Meeting monthly, the committee serves as a conduit between the Chamber, town officials, and local businesses, keeping members informed about key policy updates, new developments, and infrastructure projects. Its efforts culminate in the Annual Economic Development Update, offering stakeholders a clear view of the town’s economic trajectory. By identifying challenges and creating solutions, the committee drives prosperity and long-term success across the business community. The Chamber has a process for businesses to seek support for a particular issue they may be facing.  On an individual basis, the committee invites businesses to submit an application for support. Concerns related to zoning,  policy or regulation are considered on a case-by-case basis. Click to view the application.
